Manathai muddles summer savers

BANGKOK, 18 October 2017: MANATHAI Hotels & Resorts is offering travellers a 50% reduction on room rates at any of the group’s properties in Thailand.

The exclusive deal will run for five days, 19 to 23 October.

Guests can enjoy a discounted stay at MANATHAI Hua Hin, MANATHAI Khao Lak, MANATHAI Surin Phuket and MANATHAI Koh Samui.

To choose a MANATHAI Hotel and make a reservation, there is a link to the group’s website; 50% Summer Saver.

It should take you to a landing page featuring the 50% off discounts, or at least direct you to the various properties to see their best available rates on which the 50% discount is based.

It is never that simple.  Like so many hotel groups this one makes it difficult and time consuming to make contact with the deals that it advertises.  It turns out to be much easier to visit to nail down a bargain.

Without any fuss or bother, Agoda posts the best rate for a stay at the MANATHAI Hua Hin for THB1,427 a night, which represents a 48% discount, or so Agoda claims.

It took just seconds to ascertain the price, while following the link to the ‘summer saver’ rates on the hotel group’s website failed to deliver a result after a three- minute browse.

For staters to view the rates under the Summer Saver campaign requires you to join by supplying your email address.

The hotel group hasn’t quite worked it out that we might not want to be inundated with promotional emails. We don’t want to join anything or socialise; we just want to enjoy a discount.

Browsing the site, without giving an email address,  gives you a 20% off rate at THB1,672, or THB5,016 for a three-night stay, at the group’s Hua Hin property.

But you know it’s not the best rate because the hotel group promised a 50% discount.  Then wing off to Agoda for a hassle free booking to get you the real deal.

  1. Hi Don

Great to see you checking out the offers so carefully – good job!

    Two other points to consider:

    1. AGODA rates are before Tax and service is added (+17.7%)

    2. AGODA charge upto 2O+% commission to hotels (depending on your contract )

    Al the best
