Fly and ferry service at Changi

SINGAPORE, 7 June 2017: Changi Airport Group and Singapore Cruise Centre launched of a new shuttle bus service, last week, to transfer passengers from the airport to Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal.

The move should improve connectivity for passengers who travel to and from Changi Airport and the Riau Islands of Batam and Bintan in Indonesia.

The shuttle buses depart from TMFT, or Terminal 2 at Changi Airport, offering eight return services on weekdays and 10 on weekends. The one-way transfer costs SGD2.

SCC’s CEO Ms Christina Siaw said: “We are pleased to be able to launch this shuttle bus service so that ferry passengers can enjoy a seamless travel experience between Batam, Bintan and Changi Airport. This is part of SCC’s commitment to work with our partners to deliver outstanding service to those who use our cruise and ferry port facilities.”

CAG’s Air Hub Development managing director, Lim Ching Kiat said: “Changi Airport provides extensive connectivity for passengers travelling to and from the nearby Riau islands. We are happy to partner SCC in launching this new shuttle bus service, which provides greater convenience for our fly-ferry passengers travelling to and from these destinations via Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal – which is in close proximity to Changi Airport.”

Last December, SCC, together with ferry operator Majestic Fast Ferry, also launched a new ferry route between TMFT and Batam Centre. Prior to the launch, the terminal primarily served passengers travelling between Singapore and Bintan, as well as Nongsapura on the north-eastern tip of Batam where many resorts and golf courses are situated.

Currently, Majestic Fast Ferry offers four trips daily on weekdays and five trips daily on weekends and public holidays.

SCC also plans to launch another new ferry route between TMFT and Harbour Bay terminal in Batam with Batam Fast Ferry. The service is expected to commence in July.
