Viejet to fly Hanoi-Yangon

YANGON, 17 May 2017: Vietjethas confirmed it will start a new service between Hanoi and Yangon 31 August.

The airline already serves the Ho Chi Minh City-Yangon route daily and is one of just a few low-cost airlines that has traffic rights to serve Myanmar.

The airline says it expects the route to be popular with business travellers,  government and NGO related travel between Vietnam’s capital and Yangon the commercial gateway of Myanmar.

But there is also strong potential for two-way tourism on the route as Hanoi and north Vietnamese travellers show interest in exploring Myanmar and Myanmar citizens begin to travel to neighbouring ASEAN  destinations. International travellers touring Myanmar can also extend their trip to Hanoi, which is recognised for its heritage and is the gateway to Halong Bay.

The airline will launch the new Hanoi-Yangon service with a promotional fare of VND205,000 (USD9) but limited to an unspecified number of seats. Usually, Vietjet launches a route with free fares that are snatched up in minutes of their introduction.

Due to start the daily service 31 August the flight time will be one hour 55 minutes. The flight will depart Hanoi 1205 (local time) and arrive at 1330 pm in Yangon, The return flight will depart Yangon at 1430 and arrive in Hanoi at 1655 (local time).
