Thahara shines light on Yangon sights

YANGON, MYANMAR, 18 May 2017: Myanmar travel specialist,  Thahara, has teamed up with local creative digital agency Nex to create an illustrated map that shows Yangon’s alternative side, by shining a light on some of the lesser known sights in the country’s largest city.

To celebrate the launch of the new map, Thahara has also created two new day tours in Yangon that take guests to some of the top sights highlighted on the map.

Thahara’s new day tours, “Guide to Yangon’s Art Scene” and “A Night Celebrating Myanmar’s Traditions,” are available to book online with prices starting at USD48 per person.

Thahara’s “Alternative Yangon Map” features tips and information on the best sites, sounds and restaurants as well as Thahara’s favourite hangout spots and galleries.

The easy-to-use English-language map is available for free at selected locations around Yangon. A PDF version is available from Thahara’s website.

“We have highlighted nearly two dozen of our favourite locations in Yangon that we wanted to share with visitors who want to delve that little bit deeper and uncover Yangon’s true colours” said Thahara’s general manager Tom Wood.

“Each location has something unique about it, whether it’historical or cultural or quirky or just plain fun.”

The look, design and illustrations were the work of Nex founder & CEO Ye Myat Min who commented: “We’re really glad that Nex could be a part of this special project.

“Our local designers have worked incredibly hard over the past few months to design this beautiful map which we hope travellers will love.”
