Thailand’s meeting venues certified

BANGKOK, 16 March 2017: Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau says 101 venues in Thailand have been certified under the Thailand MICE Venue Standard in 2017.

TCEB’s MICE Capabilities Department director, Nichapa Yoswee, said this year Thailand MICE Venue Standard will extend to cover exhibition venues and special event venue categories in five key cities — Bangkok, Pattaya, Phuket, Chiang Mai, and Khon Kaen — as well as Hat Yai that is now emerging as an events venue.

“Extending the standard to more MICE venues will help to ensure organisers can confidently choose Thailand as the destination for their next MICE events.”

In 2015, 42 MICE venues, comprising of 114 meeting rooms, were certified under the Thailand MICE Venue Standard, and 100 MICE venues with 227 meeting rooms were certified in 2016.

This year, 101 MICE venues with 215 meeting rooms in Bangkok and other event cities are accredited with the Thailand MICE Venue Standard.

Among these are the Queen Sirikit Convention Centre, CentralWorld, The 60th Anniversary of His Majesty the King’s Accession to the Throne International Convention Centre in Hat Yai, SCB Training Centre Royal Paragon Hall, Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Centre, Pullman Khon Kaen Raja Orchid, Central Plaza, Centara Hotel & Convention Centre Udon Thani, Phuket Panwa Beachfront Resort, Dusit Thani Laguna Phuket, and Buri Sriphu Boutique Hotel, Songkhla.

Thailand MICE Venue Standard was introduced in 2013 between TCEB and MICE coalitions. It enables Thailand’s MICE industry to have a point of reference to identify facilities that have reached a certain standard.
