Quang Nam’s tourism future bright

QUANG NAM, 30 March 2017: Vietnam’s Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has called on provincial authorities to take on board a plan to turn Quang Nam into an international tourism hub.

Tuoi Tre News quoted Prime Minister, Nguyen Xuan Phuc, saying Quang Nam has all the features and facilities to become a major tourism hub.

The central province is home to the world-renowned Hoi An ancient town, recognised by UNESCO as a World Heritage site.

The Prime Minister said: “Quang Nam should invest and creatively develop its tourism sector by adding diversity, instead of just collecting admission fees to existing attractions.”

The province has a clear advantage over other central provinces thanks to its well- developed infrastructure, including two airports; Chu Lai Airport and Danang International Airport.

Quang Nam is home to three world-renowned attractions – the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage sites Hoi An ancient town and My Son Sanctuary, and the Cu Lao Cham UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve.

Hoi An was recognised as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1999. The town is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Vietnam.

The province targets over 5 million visitors this year.
