BANGKOK, 15 March 2017: Gulf Air is backing the 2017 Skal Asian Area Annual Congress and General Assembly in Bahrain with a 30% discount on fares to Bahrain for all delegates.
Skal members and their guests attending the 46th Asian Area Congress, this May, receive a discount code when registering. The code applies to selected fares in economy and business class available on the Gulf Air website.
“This is a fantastic gesture by Bahrain’s national carrier and it reflects the importance of our forthcoming congress in a tourism destination that is growing in popularity,” said Skal Asian area president Robert Sohn.
The Congress takes place, 12 to 15 May, at the Gulf Hotel in Bahrain.
Guest speakers at the Congress, Saturday 13 May, include Shaikh Khaled bin Humood Al Khalifa, chief executive of the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibition Authority.
Other distinguished speakers include David Fisher, newly-elected president of Skal International, and Skal Bahrain president Mohamed Buzizi.
Official statistics shared by Huda Yousuf Al Hamar, Bahrain’s Chief of Tourism Planning, show that tourist arrivals grew by 5.2% in 2016 to 10.2 million.
“There is growing interest in the heritage, history, culture and cuisine that makes Bahrain such a special destination,” explained Mohamed Buzizi. “The forthcoming Skal Asian Area Congress provides a wonderful opportunity for travel and tourism industry leaders from influential source markets in the Asia Pacific region to experience the many wonders of Bahrain.”
The congress programme includes a B2B market place where leading Bahrain travel industry operators will enjoy opportunities to network, to market their products and to contract business with overseas delegates, he added.
Skal Asian Area President Robert Sohn is calling for nominations from local Skal members that are willing to serve on the executive committee.
Elections take place every two years and are being held in Bahrain on Sunday 14 May during the General Assembly and AGM. All members in good standing of Skal clubs throughout the region are eligible to serve on the executive committee of Skal Asian Area for up to four years.
