MUMBAI, 24 February 2017: An official delegation from the UAE participated in OTM – India’s largest travel trade show that wrapped up Thursday evening in Mumbai, India.
Led by UAE’s Ministry of Economy, the delegation was made up of representatives of various tourism departments and agencies.
The UAE participated in the annual exhibition for the second year in a row.
OTM is a major travel trade event that gathers more than 1,000 exhibitors from over 60 countries. It promotes tourism cooperation and expanded access to opportunities in new and promising tourist markets, from India and various other countries participating in the show.
UAE’s Ministry of Economy undersecretary and adviser to the Minister for Tourism, Mohammed Khamis Al Muhairi, said the UAE broadened its presence this year to include the various government bodies responsible for tourism in all the emirates as well as private sector representatives involved in tourism.
India is one of the UAE’s top tourism source markets, with visits increasing 9% in 2016 to 2.3 million. The Indian outbound travel market supplied 8.5% of all visits to UAE.
UAE was selected as the OTM ‘Focus Country’ for the second consecutive year.
