QUANG BINH, 21 February 2017: Jetstar Pacific Airlines will launch two new routes–Dong Hoi-Chiang Mai (Thailand) and Dong Hoi-Hai Phong.
Local media reported the airline and Quang Binh provincial People’s Committee have recently agreed to work together to draw more visitors from Chiang Mai in Thailand and Hai Phong a major city in Vietnam.
The Dong Hoi-Hai Phong flights will begin in late May twice weekly, while the Dong Hoi-Chiang Mai flights will start in June, the airline confirmed.
The flight time from Chiang Mai to Quang Binh will be two hours. Today, travellers must overnight in Hanoi, or Ho Chi Minh City, to catch a connecting flight to Dong Hoi.
The new air routes will attract more Thai visitors to Vietnam’s lower-north provinces. Meanwhile, flights between Dong Hoi and Hai Phong will attract domestic travellers.
Dong Hoi is the capital city of Quang Binh province, located 486 km south of Hanoi, 195 km south of Vinh, 160 km north of Hue and 1,204 km north of Ho Chi Minh City.
It borders Quang Ninh district on the west and south, the South China Sea on the east, Bo Trach district on the north.
