HCMC eyes on night market

HO CHI MINH CITY, 23 February 2017: Ho Chi Minh City’s District 4 authorities will open a night market in Ward 12 to offer more attractions for tourists.

Local media reported the district authorities have sought permission from the People’s Committee.

The 3,000-sqm night market will stretch from Khanh Hoi Bridge to Calmette Bridge along the Tau Hu – Ben Nghe Canal.

inside no 2It will be 300 metre long and have more than 100 shops selling souvenirs, street foods and speciality goods besides cafes and famous restaurants.

There will also be places for parking, an art zone, tourist services, product promotions, an information centre and community activities.

It will open from 1600 to 0200.

When the market is up and running, it will form a tourism ‘chain’ along with the Nguyen Hue walking street, Bitexco Tower, Nha Rong Wharf, and Cau Mong historic architecture, the report said.

Ho Chi Minh City targets 6 million international visitors in 2017. The city welcomed more than 5.2 million foreign tourists last year, a rise of 10% against 2015.
