Angkor race a firm fixture

SIEM REAP, 8 February 2017: Over 400 runners joined the second annual Angkor Ultra Trail race according to a post-event report by organisers Phoenix Voyages.

The inbound tour company organised the race with SDPO late January on a trail that featured the famed Angkor temples as a backdrop.

In addition to the main 128 km race there were four other races: the “Bayon Trail” 64 km, the “Jungle Trail Angkor” 32 km, the “Temple Run Angkor” 16 km and “Nordic Walking Angkor” 16 km.

inside no 6In total 473 participants joined the races from 37 different nations.

The 128 km, 64 km and 32 km trails were qualifying races for the prestigious UTMB Mont Blanc Trail, which will take place  28 August.

On the podium for the UTA 128 km, the first place was won by the French Ultra Trail champion, Antoine Guillon, and second place went to Vietnamese athlete, Tran Quang, while  French Ultra Trail champion, Christophe Le Saux came in third.

Winners medals were presented by Cambodian Minister of Tourism, Thong Khon, general secretary of the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia, Vath Chamroeun, and the president of Phoenix Voyages Edouard George.

Phoenix Voyages confirmed the third edition of the race will be held 19 to 20 January 2018 in Siem Reap.
