AoT reports May performance

BANGKOK, 23 June 2016: Airports of Thailand reports strong increases in both aircraft movements and passenger traffic during May at six airports under its management.

AoT reported, earlier this week, that all of its supervised airports served 9,633,787 passengers up 11.95% from 8,605,741 when compared with the same month last year.

Overall, aircraft movements also increased by 9.34% from 59,830 to 65,417.

inside no 3 During the first five months of the year, the country main gateway Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi airport welcomed 24.40 million passengers followed by Don Mueang with 14.73 million and Phuket 6.66 million. Chiang Mai Airport handled 3.92 million passengers.

May highlights

Suvarnabhumi Airport registered an increase of 5.01% in international aircraft movements up from 20,640 to 21,675, while domestic movements improved 11.00% from 5,593 to 6,208 movements.

International passenger traffic increased 3.09% from 3,530,180 to 3,639,127, while domestic passengers increased 14.24% from 632,477 to 722,527. Overall, it accounted for a 4.78% increase in passengers from 4,162,657 to 4,361,654.

The second aviation gateway, Don Mueang Airport, recorded a 25.80% increase in international aircraft movements from 5,096 to 6,411. Domestic movements posted an improvement of 4.21% from 13,358 to 13,921.

International passenger traffic increased 34.69% from 734,304 to 989,068, while domestic passengers increased 12.66% from 1,713,292 to 1,930,230.

Chiang Mai International Airport continued to show growth in May. However, international aircraft movements registered a decline of 1.71% (1,342 to 1,365), but domestic aircraft movements increased 12.33% (3,934 to 4,419).

International passenger traffic grew 9.75% from 143,251 to 157,211, while domestic traffic gained 18.68% from 474,077 to 562,629.

Phuket International Airport registered an increase of 14.91% in international aircraft movements from 3,300 to 3,792, while domestic aircraft movements improved 19.24% from 3,331 to 3,972.

International passenger traffic increased 17.47% from 490,142 to 575,750, while domestic improved 24.86% from 440,089 to 549,496.

Chiang Rai International Airport reported a 6.23% increase in aircraft movements from 1,075 to 1,142, while passenger traffic grew 18.49% from 132,971 to 157,553.

Hat Yai International Airport reported aircraft movements improved 16.24% from 2,161 to 2,512 in May. Meanwhile, passenger traffic registered an 11.19% increase from 314,958 to 350,196 passengers.   inside-no-31
