HO CHI MINH CITY, 11 September 2015: Vietjet will launch its newest domestic routes between Pleiku City (Gia Lai province) and Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
Both routes will debut on 1 October this year.
The airline’s business development director, Desmond Lin, said the new routes should boost travel between Vietnam’s two gateway cities and the central highlands.
The flying time between Hanoi and Pleiku is approximately one hour and 35 minutes and between Ho Chi Minh City and Pleiku just one hour.
Flights from Ho Chi Minh City will depart at 1635 and arrive in Pleiku at 1735. The return flight will depart Pleiku at 1810 and arrive in Ho Chi Minh City at 1910.
Vietjet serves 33 routes in Vietnam and across the region to international destinations such as Thailand, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, China and Myanmar.
It has carried more than 13 million passengers to date.
Pleiku Airport was reopened, last week, after being closed for nearly six months for an upgrade. The airport is the only one in Gia Lai and the neighbouring province of Kon Tum.
When the airport was temporarily closed, passengers had to go to Phu Cat in Binh Dinh province and Ban Me Thuot in Dak Lak province to catch flights.
At present, only the national carrier, Vietnam Airlines, serves the airport, offering flights from Hanoi, Danang and Ho Chi Minh City.
