Hilton opens in Shangri-La

SHANGRI-LA, YUNNAN, CHINA, 5 July 2017: Hilton Garden Inn Shangri-La, the first Hilton and the third internationally-branded hotel in Shangri-La, Yunnan Province, opened its doors for guests earlier this week.

Previously referred to as Zhongdian, or Jiang Tang, Shangri-La is a county-level city in Yunnan province that was renamed after the famous James Hilton novel “Shangri-La,” 17 December 2001, in a bid to promote tourism.

The largest city in Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Shangri-La stands at an elevation of 3,000 metres. It requires a four-hour bus ride from Lijiang. Read more

IHG opens Lijiang hotel

LIJIANG, CHINA, 10 February 2015: The InterContinental Lijiang Ancient Town Resort has officially opened  this week in Lijiang town, China.

Situated next to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Lijiang old town, the property is the newest member of InterContinental Hotels and Resorts, following an upgrade and rebranding.

As part of the rebranding the hotel’s executive-floor rooms were upgraded with new technology, soft furnishings and the addition of a club lounge. Read more
