September travel slumps

HANOI, 11 October 2011 – Vietnam National Administration of Tourism estimates the country welcomed 286,618 international travellers in September representing a decline of 25.26% from 383,463 visits in the same month last year.
It was described as a temporary blip in an overall growth picture. September is traditionally a difficult month to attract tourists to Southeast Asia due to inclement weather.
Thailand’s outbound market reappeared in Vietnam’s top 10 arrivals ranking after being absent from the list since last May. It supplied 10,835 visits, gaining ninth place, but it still represented a 38.53% decline on 17,627 visits during the same month last year.
Vietnam reports August gains

HANOI, 5 October 2011 – Vietnam National Administration of Tourism estimates the country welcomed 490,000 international travellers in August representing an improvement of 14.50% over 427,935 visits in the same month last year.
Vietnam provides details of just the top 10 suppliers in its monthly reports.
Visits by Thai travellers were identified in the top 10 ranking last May with 14,660 trips, down 28.49% from 18,837 visits during the same month in 2010. Since then, the Thai outbound travel market fell off the ratings at least for Vietnam. Read more
Vietnam travel up 6.3% in April

HANOI, 11 May 2011-Vietnam National Administration of Tourism estimates international visits in April reached 460,000 representing a 6.33% increase over 432,608 visits during the same month last year.
Thailand’s outbound trips to Vietnam continued to decline. It slipped off the country’s top 10 producing markets in April, although it had been on the top 10 list for January and March when there were 36,463 visits from Thailand improving 4.32%. The website limits its data to just the top 10 suppliers so there were no comparisons or figures for the Thai market in April. Read more
Vietnam records gains

HANOI, 7 April 2011- Vietnam National Administration of Tourism estimates international visits in the first quarter of 2011 reached 1,511,472 representing an 11.86% increase over 1,351,224 visits during same quarter last year.
Thailand’s outbound trips to Vietnam slipped off the 10 top lists in March, although during the first two months of the quarter it was included in the data with 36,463 visits improving of 4.32%.
The website only identifies top 10 markets so figures for Thailand over the entire quarter were not given.
Tourism boost for Vietnam

HANOI, 10 January 2011 — Vietnam National Administration of Tourism estimates international visits to Vietnam in December reached 449,570, increasing by 19.0% over the same period last year.
Total arrivals in 2010 reached 5,049,855 representing a 34.8% growth, up 19% on the previous year, according to VNAT’s provisional data posted on its website, 6 January, and sourced from the government statistics office.
Updated last week, the data indicates 449,570 visits were registered in December through all modes of transport – land, air and sea an increase of 19% over the same month in 2009. The bulk of arrivals 365,070 passed through the two main aviation gateways Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
Vietnam’s tourism rolls to new records

BANGKOK, 25 August 2010 – International visitors to Vietnam in July were reached an estimated 410,000 an increase of 51.1% over the same month last year.
International arrivals for the first seven months of the year tallied 2,920,521 representing a 34.9% growth. According to data supplied by the General Statistics Office of Vietnam and published on the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism website, China continued to be the country’s top supplier.
