TripAdvisor tells Japan’s Untold Stories

TOKYO, 12 September 2017: Japan Airlines and TripAdvisor, announced, Monday, a strategic partnership supporting the country’s efforts to better capture and disperse inbound tourism across Japan.

According to TripAdvisor data, global inbound travel interest in Japan has been growing at an average rate of 30% year-on-year over the past four years, with majority of interest focused on the Tokyo, Osaka and Kyoto prefectures.

The joint initiative will take the form of a multi-media portal named “Untold Stories of Japan”, highlighting the very best that locals love beyond the obvious, driving sustainable tourism and increasing the likelihood of repeat visits. Read more

BANGKOK, 30 August 2017: Thai hotels need to leverage user generated content to power their business and drive more bookings, TripAdvisor regional director of hotel solutions, Asia Pacific, Amolakh Calais, told Skal International Bangkok members attending the club’s August lunch event.

The Tripadvisor executive presented an important message for all digital marketeers, covering travel and tourism related businesses touching on the impact of user generated content and online reviews, as well as the importance of online reputation management.

Thailand’s bookings looks bright

BANGKOK, Thailand, August 22, 2017: Interest in booking Thailand holidays is as robust as ever with the country heading for a great last quarter season, TripAdvisor senior director key accounts APAC, Grant Colquhoun, told a press briefing, Tuesday.

Commenting on TripAdisor’s latest inbound travel data for Thailand he said “barring anything disruptive Thailand tourism is looking robust… there is a wish-to-visit driven by low-cost airlines, new air access and emerging beach resorts.”

He argued that there was no sign of Thailand’s popularity waning, or bookings dampened by a strengthening of the Thai baht against the US dollar and UK pound. Read more

Fly to Udon, drive to Laos

UDON THANI, 8 August 2017: Udon Thani is best known as a gateway province to both upper Northeast Thailand and neighbouring Laos and its capital Vientiane.

The city itself serves as an aviation hub, the closest airport to the border with Laos and the starting point for heritage tours that visit Mekong River towns such as Nong Khai, and the World Heritage sites of Ban Chiang.

BANGKOK, 14 July 2017: Three water parks in Thailand won places on the top 10 list of TripAdvisor’s Travellers’ Choice Water Parks in Asia.

Award winners were determined using an algorithm that took into account the quantity and quality of reviews and ratings for water parks worldwide, gathered over a 12-month period.

Waterbom Bali, Kuta, Indonesia gained first place on the top 10 list in Asia, while Imagica Water Park in Khopoli, India ranked second. Pattaya’s Ramayana Water Park won third place. Read more

TripAdvisor and Deliveroo in food deal

SINGAPORE, 13 July 2017: TripAdvisor TRIP and Deliveroo, an on-demand food-delivery service, announced, Wednesday, the integration of Deliveroo’s restaurant network into the TripAdvisor desktop website, mobile web and mobile app experiences in 12 countries worldwide.

In Asia the Deliveroo service will be available in just Singapore and Hong Kong.

Consumers browsing TripAdvisor restaurant listings now have the option to order food from more than 20,000 of Deliveroo’s restaurant partners spanning more than 140 cities. Read more

TripAdvisor teams up with shopping malls

BANGKOK, 7 July 2017: TripAdvisor has announced tie-ups with five retail shopping mall groups in Bangkok to enhance the shopping experience for Chinese travellers.

The announcement comes during the country’s national shopping sale season when inbound tourism from China is especially strong.

According to TripAdvisor, inbound travel interest by Chinese travellers continues to grow year-on-year by 56%, outpacing interest growth by any other inbound markets to Thailand. Read more
