BANGKOK, 25 May 2017: TripAdvisor, announced, Wednesday, a new streamlined experience for its native iOS app available in Apple’s App Store.

Now travellers can more easily plan every aspect of their trip on the TripAdvisor app, including finding low prices for the right hotel, as well as get the best value on flights, holiday rentals, restaurants and other things to do in-destination. With advice from millions of global travellers, the newly redesigned app empowers travellers with the insights they need to make informed travel choices with the confidence they will have a great trip.

“Travellers want to know they’re getting the best value on a hotel and other parts of the trip, and we have now redesigned our app to make sure they do just that,” said TripAdvisor chief executive officer and co-founder, Stephen Kaufer. “The new TripAdvisor app experience allows travellers to compare prices and book their hotel, find great things to do on the go, and unleash the full potential of their trip.” Read more

Angkor tops world tourist landmarks

BANGKOK, 24 May 2017: TripAdvisor announced the winners of its Travellers’ Choice awards for Landmarks, Tuesday naming Angkor Wat, Cambodia, as the world top choice.

Award winners were determined using an algorithm that took into account the quantity and quality of reviews and ratings for landmarks, worldwide, gathered over a 12-month period. The awards recognise 706 landmarks in 82 countries.

Angkor Wat, Siem Reap, Cambodia, led the top 10 Best Landmarks in the World ranking, the first time the World Heritage site has been recognised as the world top landmark by TripAdvisor reviewers. Read more

NEEDHAM, MASS, US, 26 April 2017: TripAdvisor launched its first-ever mobile Check-Index, Tuesday, that reveals travellers’ and locals’ most frequented hotels, restaurants and attractions in major world tourism destinations.

The study was based TripAdvisor’s massive databank of mobile check-in information.

“Our mobile Check-Index shows the points of interest where consumers are voting with their feet and actually spending their time,” said TripAdvisor vice president of product, consumer experience Jeff Chow. “It’s interesting to see how in some cities travellers and locals are drawn to the same things to do or places to eat, while in others you see distinct differences in their preferences.” Read more

TripAdvisor clocks up half billion

The popular travel planning and booking site and app now posts 290 pieces of content every minute of every day.

Thai airlines top low-cost pile

SINGAPORE, 11 April 2017: Two Thai airlines were honoured by TripAdvisor’s inaugural Travellers’ Choice awards for airlines in the Asia-Pacific regional, low-cost category.

THAI Smile was declared the favourite carrier in the category followed by Bangkok Airways in second place.

Indigo India was third. Just three airlines were recognised in the Asia-Pacific regional, low-cost airlines category. Read more

Bali captures two TripAdvisor awards

SINGAPORE, 22 March 2017: Bali once again tops international awards, this time TripAdvisor’s Travellers Choice Awards for Best Destinations in Asia and also the world.

The popular island destination in Indonesia was followed in second place on the Asia list by Cambodia’s Siem Reap, home to the World Heritage site of Angkor Wat.

Thailand famed for its mass tourism, that packs in more than 32 million tourists annually, had three destinations in the top 10 list for Asia; third placed Phuket, seventh placed Samui  and eighth placed Bangkok.  Read more

TripAdvisor identifies Silk Road appeal

BANGKOK, 13 March 2017: UNESCO World Heritage sites, local foods and festivals are the top attractions for travellers exploring the Silk Road countries according to the latest findings by TripAdvisor.

TripAdvisor presented the findings of the TripAdvisor Travel Trends for the Silk Road 2017 for the second year running at the 7th UNWTO Silk Road Ministers Meeting held at ITB Berlin,  last week.

The survey assessed travel preferences, habits and interests along the Silk Road and concluded the main attractions were World Heritage sites, food and festivals. Read more

Centara resorts win TrpAdvisor recognition

BANGKOK, 8 March 2017: Two Centara properties gained ratings within the Top 25 TripAdvisor Awards 2017 in the Thailand Family Hotels category.

Centara Seaview Resort Khao Lak was ranked 10th and Centara Kata Resort Phuket 21st.

Centara Hotels and Resorts chief executive officer, Thirayuth Chirathivat said: “This is a great honour for Centara Hotels & Resorts, and a great tribute to the outstanding teams we have at both award-winning Centara properties.” Read more

Southeast Asian beaches dominate list

SINGAPORE, 28 February 2017: India’s Radhanagar beach on an island in the Andaman Sea emerged as the top rated beach in the region by TripAdvisor reviewers.

Released Monday, TripAdvisor’s Travellers’ Choice Awards for Beaches in Asia identified Radhanagar Beach, on Havelock Island, Andaman and Nicobar in India as the Asia’s number one beach based on reviews.

Two Indian beaches made it to the top 10 list along with a beach in Sri Lanka, but Southeast Asia dominated with seven of Asia’s top-ranked beaches. Read more

US Tech and travel tackle Trump
