Rail Europe has launched a promotional fare for first class travel that will be on sale locally until 27 August, but the travel is open until 31 August.

Some Thailand trains will gain super carriages to appeal to up-market travellers, according to a Touism Authority of Thailand plan to promote train travel in the domestic market.
TAT deputy governor for domestic marketing, Vansadej Thavarasukha, says the State Railway of Thailand will add high quality air-conditioned carriages to attract more Thai travellers.
“We support with a Bt14 million budget for two 60-seat carriages that could be ready by next February,” said Mr Vunsadej. They will join two other carriages that are being used for weekend tours promoted by TAT.
China’s rail link to Myanmar
China is building a railway spur to link Ruili, a town on the border of Myanmar, with Dali in Yunnan province, covering a distance of 350 km.
Kunming Railway Bureau chief, Song Xiude, told reporters in Yunnan, recently, the new line would connect Ruili and Dali to the Southeast Asian rail network. That line starts in far-north town of Dukou and heads south to Kunming, the capital of Yunnan province and then southeast to Lao Cai on the border with Vietnam.
