BANGKOK, 20 September 2011 – Thai Hotels Association Eastern Chapter will hold a marketing event, Hotels Meet Local Agents, 23 September at Golden Tulip Sovereign Hotel, Bangkok, to update tourism products as well as offer a chance for hotels to network with Asia specific travel agents, the THA announced Monday.
The annual series, Hotels Meet local Agents, focuses on travel agents in a specific market and usually features table-top sales and a networking party (cocktails and heavy snacks). Read more
THA optimistic on year-end target

BANGKOK, 14 September 2011 – Thai Hotels Association reported Tuesday average occupancy for the month of August touched 62% nationwide, while major tourist provinces such as Chiang Mai still needed to make a comeback.
THA president, Prakit Chinamornpong confirmed at a members meeting, held on the sidelines of a hospitality show, that the nationwide occupancy rate in August reached 62%, up 10% over the same period last year.
Occupancy in Bangkok in the four-to-five star category hotels touched 66%. But the northern destination Chiang Mai was still struggling with occupancy averaging out at 40%. Read more
THA congress tackles core issues

BANGKOK, 30 August 2011 – Thai Hotels Association will host its 13th Hospitality Industry Congress,13 to 14 September, alongside the annual hospitality show the 19th Food & Hotel Thailand 2011 at Royal Paragon Hall, Siam Paragon.
Made up of two components, a two-day seminar will run alongside the main event of the 19th Food & Hotel Thailand 2011, 13 to 16 September, while the hospitality congress will run for just the first two days, 13 to 14 September.

Low-season deals for hoteliers

BANGKOK, 25 July 2011 – Thai Hotels Association hopes to drive more business to its member-hotels through a special “hotelier” rate, the association revealed at its members meeting last week.
The discount campaign launched by THA is for staff working at member hotels.
There are four fixed price ranges: Bt600, Bt900, Bt1,200 and Bt1,500 for hotel members to apply. However, it depends on each hotel if they want to also include a breakfast in the deal.
According to THA marketing department, details of participating hotels will be released later this week.

BANGKOK, 14 July 2011 – Thai Hotels Association invites members and non-members to showcase products at its bimonthly meeting, 26 July, at Centara Grand at CentralWorld, the association announced earlier this week.
The meeting will run from 1130 to 1430 and companies can display products, applicable to the hospitality business at the event in the hotel’s lobby outside the meeting room.
Display areas cost Bt3,000 for THA members and Bt5,000 for non-members. Prices exclude a 7% VAT.
THA’s July training courses

BANGKOK, 29 June 2011 – Thai Hotels Association, announced, Wednesday, it will host training courses offering five subjects for hotel staff to improve work skills, 19 to 21 July, at Amari Atrium, Bangkok.
The courses focus on housekeeping and food and beverage, cost and effectiveness of energy administration, English language skills and developing service systems.
Courses focus mainly on hotel departmental heads and assistants.
Programmes on housekeeping and food and beverage are scheduled for 19 July and the balance on 20 and 21. The training sessions run from 0900 to 1600.
Table-top sales for domestic hotels

BANGKOK, 17 June 2011 – Thai Hotels Association has teamed up with the Association of Domestic Travel to hold a table-top sales session called Hotels Meet Domestic Agents, 13 July, at Asia Hotel Bangkok, THA reported Wednesday.
The event will feature discussions and a table-top sale session between hoteliers and domestic travel agents.
Topics on the agenda are: The direction of domestic tourism; endorsement of domestic tourism plans tabled by the Tourism Authority of Thailand; and a market summary by ADT. Read more
THA monitors occupancy rise

BANGKOK, 13 June 2011 – Thai Hotels Association reported Friday, an improvement in hotel occupancies nationwide during the first quarter of the year in an assessment presented on the sidelines of the TTM.
Occupancies improved across the country by 10% based on 2007 data rather than data for 2008 and 2009 both poor years due to political turmoil.
Reporting on the situation, THA president Prakit Chinaornpong said it was an encouraging sign, but he warned the industry that if there was turmoil, post national election, 3 July, the industry could sink once more into serious debt and losses.
THA offers more training

BANGKOK, 12 April 2011 – Thai Hotels Association invites members and non-members to attend its April monthly trainings 26 to 29 April.
There will be four courses featuring energy saving for hotels, human resources, hotel management and hospitality law. All courses will be held at SC Park Hotel on Ramkamhaeng 39, Bangkok.
The first two courses will be hosted 26 April and the other two 27 and 29 April respectively. All courses run from 0900 to 1600 at SC Park Hotel.
THA plans language courses

BANGKOK, 7 March 2011 – Thai Hotels Association is inviting hotel staff to apply for Russian language classes, which will be held during 7 May to 10 July, it announced earlier this week.
Open to both member and non-member hotels, the Russian language courses will be led by Thammasat University. There are three courses: Listening and Speaking Russian; Russian for business and Russian for the service industry. Courses cover 50 hours of tuition.
Russia is an important market for Thai hotels delivering, in 2010, 611,019 trips that represented an increase of 81.33% over 336,965 trips in 2009.
