TAT outlines marketing plan

BANGKOK, 20 July 2017: Tourism Authority of Thailand has outlined its marketing plan 2018 to heighten Thailand as a preferred destination.

Speaking at the TAT Action Plan for 2018 meeting on Monday, TAT governor, Yuthasak Supasorn, said TAT’s marketing plan 2018 has been designed to generate revenue and increase visitor arrivals, promote new ideas and follow the development agenda of Thailand 4.0.

Strategies are in line with the 12th National Economic and Social Development Plan and the 2nd National Tourism Development Plan. Read more

TTM turns into money-maker

BANGKOK, 17 July 2017: Thailand’s national travel show TTM+ generated business transactions valued at an estimated THB1.4 billion according to a survey by the Tourist Authority of Thailand.

In its post-show assessment  TAT said the show attracted a record turnout of international buyers.

Thailand’s main travel trade show, the Thailand Travel Mart Plus Amazing Gateway to the Greater Mekong Subregion (TTM+) was held in Chiang Mai for the second year in a row, 14 to 17 June. Read more

BANGKOK, 29 June 2017: The 2017 People’s Choice Awards based on a Tourism Authority of Thailand poll saw Centara Grand & Bangkok Convention Centre at Central World voted “Best City Hotel”.

Completed mid June, the poll reflected the growing importance of Chinese visitors as arrivals are expected to exceed 9 million this year.

Centara Hotels & Resorts, Thailand’s largest hotel operator has a portfolio of 66 deluxe and first-class properties including 43 in Thailand and another 23 located in prominent international destinations. Read more

Grand Sale goes digital

BANGKOK, 29 June 2017: For the first time, the annual Visa Thailand Grand Sale goes digital as the flagship inbound programme gets a mobile-first revamp.

Visa Thailand Grand Sale 2017 was officially launched earlier this month by Thailand’s Minister of Tourism and Sports Kobkarn Wattanavrangkul, Visa country manager, Thailand Suripong Tantiyanon and Tourism Authority of Thailand deputy governor for tourism products and business Noppadon Pakprot.

However details of the new digital features were released, Wednesday, that opens shopping for the first time to the mobile online experience. Read more

Bangkok’s shrines feature in walkabout

BANGKOK, 2 June 2017: Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and the Ratchaprasong Square Trade Association (RSTA) are jointly promoting  new walking tours in Bangkok’s Ratchaprasong shopping district.

The first in the series is the Ratchaprasong Shrine and Culture Walk, which encourages people to discover eight  Hindu shrines.

TAT executive director of events Department Thapanee Kiatphaibool said: “The Ratchaprasong Shrine and Culture Walk will encourage tourists to discover local experiences… These walks show that even in the most modern areas of Bangkok, there is something for everyone from shoppers to seeking the more spiritual side of the city.” Read more

ATTA promotions focus on Europe

BANGKOK, 26 May 2017: Association of Thai Travel Agents plans to organise roadshows and participate in more international trade fairs to boost tour bookints from European markets.

ATTA vice president, Mingkwan Metmowlee, revealed the marketing strategy plan for the European market at the association monthly meeting last Wednesday.

“The association will organise roadshow to Europe to open opportunities in new markets with visits to Prague in Poland, Budapest in Hungry 12 to 15 September this year.” Read more

TTM+2017 seminar

CHIANG MAI, 23 May 2017: Tourism Authority of Thailand is arranging a one-day tourism seminar, to be held concurrently with the Thailand Travel Mart Plus (TTM+) 2017 which will take place from 14 to 16 June in Chiang Mai.

The forum, scheduled for 16 June, is being organised to strengthen the competitiveness of the Thai tourism industry.

TAT governor, Yuthasak Supasorn, said: “This seminar forms part of the TAT Academy’s mission to help enhance Thai tourism personnel and market competitiveness as well as to attract a new workforce for this growing industry. Sessions are carefully planned to ensure useful learning and knowledge sharing opportunities from senior tourism officials and experienced hospitality professionals. At the end of this one-day event, we hope participants will learn new perspectives in the field of tourism and travel in the digital era within the Royal Thai Government’s Thailand 4.0 smart-economy framework.” Read more

Gala to fund scholarships

PHUKET, 11 May 2017: Tourism Authority of Thailand has confirmed  support for the upcoming PHAB charity gala event, 13 May, organised by the Phuket Hotels Association to raise money to fund 20 hospitality scholarships and traineeships for talented young residents of the island.

Senior tourism officials will open the event, with other VIPs expected to join as the tourism industry gets together to support the future of the industry through investment in its potential human resources.

PHAB has quickly become a catalyst for unity in the Phuket hospitality sector – a rallying call for the trade to focus on re-investment into the island. Read more

Michelin Bangkok launches this December

BANGKOK, 25 April 2017: Thailand’s Ministry of Tourism and Sports says the first Michelin Guide Bangkok, due to be published in December, will help to boost the country’s food tourism, while adding value to Thai restaurants that are awarded Michelin stars.

Tourism Authority of Thailand entered  into a partnership with Michelin Travel Partner, last week, to publish a Bangkok edition of the prestigious Michelin Guide.

Tourism and Sports Minister, Kobkarn Wattanavrangkul, said the launch would allow local people and tourists to experience the delicious taste of Thai food in many settings.  Read more
