Vietnam’s tourism in top gear

HANOI, 11 October 2017:  Vietnam’s tourism is powering along gathering a head count of almost 9.5 million visitors for the first nine months of the year.

Based on the country’s Government Statistics Office estimates international visits reached 9,448,331, an increase of 28.4% over the same period last year.

Of that total, 8 million travellers arrived in the country by air and 7 million of them were from Asia. China and South Korea accounted for well over half of the total Asian arrivals at 4,650,550. That’s a substantial market share and risky for the travel industry if one of those markets takes a tumble.  Travel from China increased 47% and from South Korea by 51%. Read more

Vietnam’s tourist arrivals soar in April

HANOI, 3 May 2017: Vietnam National Administration of Tourism estimates the country welcomed 1,071,650 international visitors in April representing an increase of 34.0% over the same month last year.

China was the top supply market with 322,453 visits improving 54.3%. Other top performers were South Korea, Japan, Russia and Taiwan.

Thailand in 10th place recorded 30,643 visits up 11.1% when compared with the same month last year. Read more

Cambodia enjoys tourism boom

PHNOM PENH, 27 April 2017: Cambodia’s tourist arrivals improved 12.1% during January to February this year, according to the Statistics and Tourist Information Department.

Released by the Ministry of Tourism, Wednesday, the latest data showed the country welcomed 1,025,522 international travellers compared to 914,554 during the same period last year.

Outbound trips by Cambodians reached 245,016 up 9.2% for the first two months of the year, compared with 224,411 trips during the same period in 2016. Read more

Cambodia monitors travel growth

PHNOM PENH, 23 March 2017: Cambodia’s tourist arrivals improved 14.2% in January this year, according to the Statistics and Tourist Information Department.

Released by the Ministry of Tourism, Tuesday, the data showed the country welcomed 532,206 international travellers in January compared to 466,086 during the same month last year.

China led the supply markets with 80,407 visits up 20.4% from 66,764 visits during the same month in 2016. Read more

Indonesia hits 2016 target

JAKARTA, 23 February 2017: Indonesia welcomed slightly more than 12 million international visitors in 2016, representing a 15.54% increase year-on-year.

Ministry of Tourism deputy minister for international tourism marketing, I Gede Pitana, and National of Bureau of Statistics head, Suharyono, confirmed at a press conference, last week, that the country had reached its 12 million target set for 2016.

The year’s tally closed at 12.023 million visits including data from secondary border checkpoints. Read more

French tourism rebounds

PARIS, 8 February 2017: France’s tourism industry rebounded in late 2016 after two tough years marked by a series of jihadists attacks, national statistics agency Insee said Tuesday.

The number of overnight stays rose 3.9% in the last three months of 2016 compared with the same period in 2015, reaching 56.3 million, Insee said.

“This strong rebound more than compensates for the marked drop recorded a year previously, linked to the impact of the attacks,” the agency said. Read more

Cambodia tots up arrivals

PHNOM PENH, 16 January 2017: Cambodia’s tourist arrivals improved 4.8% during January to November 2016, according to the Statistics and Tourist Information Department.

Released by the Ministry of Tourism, last week, the latest data showed the country recorded 4,400,178 international tourist arrivals compared to 4,200,432 during the same period in 2015.

Outbound trips by Cambodians reached 1,306,393 up 19.3% for the first 11 months of 2016 year from 1,094,598 trips in 2015. Read more

Vietnam tops 10 million visits

HANOI, 5 January 2017: Vietnam National Administration of Tourism estimates the country welcomed 897,279 international visitors in December 2016 representing an increase of 17.9% over same month in 2015.

China was the top supply market with 216,662 visits improving 28.1%. Other top performers were South Korea, Japan, Russia and Malaysia.

Thailand ranked in ninth place recording 27,643 visits down by 4.9% when compared to the same month in 2015. Read more

Cambodia’s tourism expands

PHNOM PENH, 20 December 2016: Cambodia’s tourist arrivals improved 4.4%, January to October, this year, according to the latest data from the Statistics and Tourist Information Department.

Released by the Ministry of Tourism, late last week, the report indicated the country welcomed 3,922,492 international travellers compared to 3,755,792 during the same period last year.

Outbound trips by Cambodians reached 1,182,670 up 20.0% for the first 10 months of the year from 985,739 trips last year. Read more

Tourism grows 4% in Cambodia

PHNOM PENH, 31 October 2016: Cambodia’s tourist arrivals improved 4.3% during January to August, this year, according to the Statistics and Tourist Information Department.

Released by the Ministry of Tourism, the latest data showed the country welcomed 3,162,907 international travellers compared to 3,032,411 during the same period last year.

Outbound trips by Cambodians reached 937,588, up 23.7% for the first eight months of the year from 758,041 trips last year. Read more
