Amour to bring romance to Bangkok

SINGAPORE, 12 October, 2017: Worldwide Events, a leading B2B trade show organiser will partner with Tourism Authority of Thailand to host “Amour Asia Pacific” in Bangkok, 14 to 17 February 2018.

Amour is an invite-only romance travel trade event that brings together the most romantic travel brands and global buyers of romance travel to meet and network.

The specialised show was launched in Venice, earlier this year, and will be rolled out in two new markets – Bangkok, Thailand and Monte Carlo, Monaco in early 2018. Read more

ITE gains stature in regional market

HO CHI MINH CITY, 11 September 2017: ITE-HCMC has affirmed its position as one of the region’s leading travel trade shows that will draw more tourists to visit Vietnam.

Speaking at the Gala Dinner, at ITE late last week, Minister of Culture, Sport and Tourism, Nguyen Ngoc Thien, said the event was recognised as a leading professional forum for tourism management agencies, tourism enterprises at home and overseas to meet, exchange and conduct business discussions.

TRAVEX to rigorously check buyers

BANGKOK, 8 September 2017: The Tourism Authority of Thailand has pledged to make the ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF) in Chiang Mai a success, by improving the quality of TRAVEX buyers. claiming ASEAN destinations earn millions of dollars in business transacted during the three-day trade show.

To add credence to that claim, TAT says it will abide by strict guidelines to scrutinise buyer registration at the show to ensure only decision makers who are empowered to negotiate contracts can attend.

The show in recent year has been criticised for a poor turnout of quality buyers. Critics claim there are too many buyers who view ATF as an annual paid holiday, or reunion with buddy tour operators. Read more

China attracts ASEAN interest

GUANGZHOU, China, 5 September 2017: The China (Guangdong) International Tourism Industry Expo 2017 (CITIE) will open 8 September at the China Import and Export Fair Complex, here in Guangzhou.

By the time the expo closes, 10 September, the organisers promise business transactions will have been concluded that will tap China’s vast outbound travel market particular for Asian destinations.

Show organisers confirmed more than 4,500 booths have booked 90,000 m2 of exhibition space presenting travel content from 55 countries and 22 Chinese provinces, and autonomous regions. Read more

TITF 21 and going strong

BANGKOK, 11 August 2017: The 21st edition of Thai International Travel Fair opened, Thursday, attracting travel consumers who were keen to snatch up tour packages and airline deals, some valid until January next year.

The event will end this Sunday at Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre.

Thai Travel Agents Association president, Suparerk Soorangura, told TTR Weekly that 30 countries were exhibiting travel products at a show that is considered a reliable barometer of outbound travel trends in Thailand. Read more

ATTA plans big presence at TTM

BANGKOK, 4 May 2017: Association of Thai Travel Agents will join the forthcoming B2B international event, Thailand Travel Mart Plus 2017, to be hosted 14 to 16 June in Chiang Mai.

ATTA’s vice president, Virat Chatturaputpitak, said attending TTM+2017 this year is the first activity for the association’s new committee to raise its profile and support its members.

“TTM is the country’s most important event for inbound tourism organising annually… it’s a priority for us,” he said. Read more

ITB Berlin declares full house

SINGAPORE, 1 April 2016: Singapore hosts one of the largest digital commerce events for Asia, 20 to 21 April, with an estimated attendance exceeding 8,000.

Hosted at Suntec Singapore Convention Centre, the mega event delivers four meeting and exhibition components: E-Commerce Show Asia, Cards & Payments Asia, Retail Technology Show Asia and Future Bank Asia.

Chiang Mai travel fair opens

CHIANG MAI, 28 August 2015: The Time To Travel show opened, Wednesday, at Central Plaza Chiang Mai Airport, a consumer travel fair organised by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Office in Chiang Mai.

Local travel media consultant and travel writer, Reinhard Hohler, attended the opening ceremony and alerted expatriate residents  to a show they would have probably never heard of otherwise.

The main objective of the show was to sell travel to Chiang Mai residents with booths presenting products from around Thailand and even Malaysia.
