State Railway of Thailand has decided to postpone the opening date for free trial transfers on the long-awaited airport link.
They were due to start to today, 30 April, but SRT officials said they had postponed the soft launch until further notice, due the political situation.
The National News Bureau reported that Transport minister, Sopon Zarum, ordered the postponement based on the red shirt’s seizure of the BTS station in Chidlom that disrupted services. Protesters threw more than 30 car tires on the track to halt rush-hour trains.

Thailand’s first airport rail link should officially roll out services, 12 August, an auspicious day when the nation celebrates HM the Queen’s birthday.
However, free demonstration rides for the public will be arranged on weekdays leading up to the official opening date.
The rail system has already been tested to operational standard, but back-up facilities are still lagging behind their completion dates.
