Construction of the fourth Mekong River bridge to to link Bokeo province in Laos at Huayxai district and Chiang Rai province at Chiang Khong district, in Thailand, is expected to start in  March and be completed in slightly less than three years.

Traffic snarls to worsen in Bangkok

Thirteen flyovers in Bangkok will close for repairs this month creating additional traffic jams and road delays. Tour companies are advising their clients that sightseeing tours in the city could face delays.

The first flyover scheduled to close in the repair schedule was at the Ratchayothin intersection on the main ring road that circles the inner suburbs of the city. However, a week into the repair period the flyover was still open to traffic on all six lanes.

Once work begins it will take 30 days to finish repairs in each direction. Not all the lanes will be closed at any one time, but the work will cause serious delays during peak traffic hours.

Airport link faces delays

Bangkok’s airport express train should open for commercial services in March 2010.

The new airport rail link that will offer a 15-minute express train transfer from Suvarnabhumi Airport to the city will be officially declared open, 5 December, leading up commercial services by March 2010.
