BANGKOK, 19 July 2010 — Thai Airways International board of directors sidelined executive vice president, commercial, Pruet Boobphakam, to an inactive post over allegations relating to a cargo aircraft deal.
Another PATA director departs
BANGKOK 15 July 2010 – Pacific Asia Travel Association and its director for board and foundation relations, Ratana Poopitakchatkaew, parted company 30 June.
She had worked with the association for 12 years joining as the first Thai staff member of PATA when it relocated its headquarters from San Francisco to Bangkok in 1998.
Relations were strained with the current management after former president and CEO Peter de Jong resigned in 2008.

BANGKOK 10 June, 2010 — A former Pacific Asia Travel Association executive, Renton de Alwis, will return to the association in a short-term advisory role to offer expert advice on membership retention, recruitment and chapter development.
Mr de Alwis, was a former chairman of the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau, but best known in Sri Lanka for his social activism and community work based in a rural environment in the island’s deep south.

The Thai Cabinet announced the transfer of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports permanent secretary, Sasithara Pichaichannarong, yesterday, to the post of senior advisor to the Prime Minister. The decision was based on a proposal from the Office of the Permanent Secretary.
New Year start for TAT governor

The Tourism Authority of Thailand board of directors have confirmed Suraphon Svetasreni, will start work officially as the TAT governor, 1 January 2010. It is a national holiday that falls on a Friday, which means in practice he will not be able to occupy his office suite until Monday, 4 January.
Atout France names SEA boss

Atout France, Southeast Asia office director, Frédéric Meyer, completed his assignment in Singapore, 7 December. He has since been appointed director in Japan.
Mr Meyer was based in Singapore, promoting France to Southeast Asian markets for the last four years.
