Pattaya struggles to regain lost ground

BANGKOK, 20 August 2010 – Political instability and the shift in tourist markets has seriously damaged Pattaya’s tourism according to the resort’s officials.

The shift to Asian markets, rather than Europe, continues with India now identified as the top potential market capable of supplying events, incentives and wedding related business.

Tourism officials were in Bangkok, yesterday, to promote Pattaya Grand Sale, their latest campaign to draw more visitors to the eastern seaboard resort.

Colours of the East Festival

Bangkok 29 June, 2010 – Tourism Authority of Thailand promotes tourism in Chonburi, Rayong, Chanthaburi and Trat province  through what it calls the Colours of the East festival on Pattaya beach, 1 to 4 July.

TAT estimates 300,000 visitors, mostly domestic travellers, will attend the festival.

Beachside music festival

Pattaya 8th International Music Festival 2010 will extends its boundaries to cover 3.5 km of beach front with organisers claiming it will be Asia’s longest beach festival venue capable of attracting 500,000 visitors.

The three-day event scheduled, 19 to 21 March, is managed by Tourism Authority of Thailand, Chonburi Provincial Administrative Organisation and Pattaya City as a part of a wider nation-wide campaign “Amazing Thailand Amazing Value” to stimulate domestic travel.

Tiger watchers get a break on a zoo visit.

Krungthai Card Public Company and Sriracha Tiger Zoo have launched an exclusive travel package called “Tiger Go Lucky at Sriracha Tiger Zoo”  priced at Bt599 for two person, compared with the standard Bt740 fee.

The package includes two tickets, one tiger doll, two tiger cub feeding coupons, two tiger cub photo coupons and two canned soft drinks . It is eligible for holders of all KTC credit cards.
