JAL makes profit upgrade

TOKYO, 1 November 2017: Japan Airlines  on Tuesday upgraded its full-year forecast as it booked a modest gain in half-year net profit thanks to solid domestic and international sales.

JAL said net profit rose 9.2% year-on-year to 78.0 billion yen (USD690 million) for the six months to September.

Revenue for the period increased 6.2% to 692.3 billion yen, as the airline said it enjoyed robust inbound demand from overseas and buoyant outbound demand. Read more

TOKYO, 1 August 2017: Japan Airlines (JAL) on Monday reported a jump in quarterly net profit thanks to brisk sales at home and overseas, and revised its full-year forecast upward.

JAL, once a symbol of Japan’s rise from the ashes of defeat in World War II as it ferried the country’s newly rich tourists around the world, received a government bailout after a high-profile bankruptcy restructuring in 2010.

After slashing routes and cutting costs, the carrier relisted on the Tokyo bourse two years later and has continued a steady ascent. Read more

Vietjet inks partnership with JAL

BANGKOK, 27 July 2017: Japan Airlines and Vietjet signed a formal partnership agreement, earlier this week, starting with codeshare flights and extending to other areas impacting on passenger services.

The two airlines concluded an agreement after discussions on expanding their networks to respond to growing travel demand between the two countries.

As a first step, JAL and Vietjet agreed to start  codeshare cooperation for all flights between Japan and Vietnam as well as JAL’s domestic flights, and Vietjet’s domestic flights. Read more
