Bumper Summer for Helsinki events

HELSINKI, 12 October 2017: Helsinki enjoyed another busy summer hosting congresses with delegate attendance reaching 38,000 between May and September.

The events generated around EUR 50 million in tourism income for Finland’s capital city.

According to the Union of International Associations (UIA) in its June report, Helsinki became the most popular city for international association meetings in the Nordic region last year and the 15th most popular congress city in the world. Read more

Qatar adds a Nordic city

DOHA, 12 October 2016: Qatar Airways landed its first flight to Helsinki, Finland, Monday, making it the first Middle Eastern carrier to serve four Nordic capitals.

The airline flies daily to Stockholm, Copenhagen, Oslo and now Helsinki. It would needs to fly to Iceland to cover all countries in the Nordic region.

The new service to Helsinki will make it convenient for Finnish passengers to fly to Krabi, in Thailand, and the Seychelles, services that will launch in December, and Auckland, which will launch 5 February 2017. Read more

ITB Asia: Finland launches 2017 promotions

SINGAPORE, 5 October 2016: Finland’s delegation to ITB Asia, mid-October, will be promoting the country 100th year of independence celebrations set for next year.

Executives representing StopOver Finland, Finnair and Visit Helsinki will attend ITB Asia at Marina Bay Sands from 19 to 21 October.

Ahead of the iconic anniversary there are numerous tourism-related developments in the pipeline that will be announced at the group’s booth L05. Read more

Cambodia and Finland sign MoU

PNHOM PENH, 25 July 2016: Cambodia’s Secretariat of Civil Aviation signed a Memorandum of Understanding, last week, with Finland’s Civil Aviation Authority to allow direct flights between the two countries.

Khmer Times quoted SSCA spokesman, Sin Sereyvutha, saying the MoU would pave the way for airlines in both Cambodia and Finland to establish direct air links between Phnom Penh and Helsinki.

“However, for the moment we don’t expect airlines to establish direct air routes. Passenger demand is not sufficient,” he said. Read more
