More films shot on Thailand

BANGKOK, 22 May 2013: Thailand earned a record Bt671.43 million from on-location film shoots, January to April, according to a Ministry of Tourism and Sports’ Thailand Film Office Department update released on Monday.
For the first four months of the year, 283 documentaries, advertising slots, TV series, and music videos were filmed on location in Thailand generating Bt671.43 million in tourism related revenue compared to 238 productions and Bt791.77 million.
The 283 productions were categorised as 43 documentaries, 168 advertising spots, 39 television programmes, 14 music videos and 19 films.

BANGKOK, 23 April 2013: Thailand earned a record Bt540.73 million from on-location film shoots, January to March, according to a Ministry of Tourism and Sports’ Thailand Film Office Department update released on Monday.
For the first three months of the year, 223 documentaries, advertising, TV series, and music videos were filmed on location in Thailand generating Bt540.73 million in tourism related revenue compared to 193 productions and Bt681.78 million.
The 223 productions were categorised as 29 documentaries, 135 advertising spots, 31 television programmes, 12 music videos and 16 films.

BANGKOK, 6 March 2013: Thailand earned a record Bt136.53 million from on-location film shoots in January, according to a Ministry of Tourism and Sports’ Thailand Film Office Department update released late last week.
It reported 68 films, documentaries, advertising, TV series, and music video had been filmed on location in Thailand generating Bt136.53 million in tourism related revenue compared to 56 productions and Bt200.35 million during the same month in 2012.
Of the 68 productions, there were eight documentaries, 35 advertising spots, 15 television programmes, and five each for music video productions and films.
Fund to tempt movie makers

BANGKOK, 28 February 2013: The National Federation of Thai Film Association suggests Thailand should set up a film fund to support international moviemakers to film in the country .
The association secretary, Weerasak Kowsurat, said the film industry could help to boost awareness and this would support tourism.
“To reach the government’s tourism revenue goal of Bt2 trillion by 2015, the government should support foreign movie makers to select Thailand as their location and aid local firms to produce more interesting film that could be exported.”

BANGKOK, 28 December 2012: Ministry of Tourism and Sports’ Thailand Film Office Department reported, Tuesday, a record Bt1,710.60 million in earrnings from on-location film shoots in Thailand during January to November.
Overseas film productions, shot in Thailand, are considered a valuable source of revenue as well a tool to build awareness for the country’s tourism business.
The department reported there were 596 films, documentaries, advertising, TV series, and music video filmed on location in Thailand. They generated Bt1,710.60 million in tourism related revenue compared to 570 productions and circulated Bt1,116.84 million during the same period last year.
Movies build ASEAN awareness

KUALA LUMPUR, 2 November 2012: Malaysia’s Information, Communication and Culture Minister, Datuk Seri Dr Rais Yatim, says hosting more film productions could build awareness for the ASEAN community which is due to commence in 2015.
The minister said: “The region’s cultural richness should attract more Hollywood and Bollywood film-makers to shoot on location, which is another way to boost awareness of ASEAN tourism.”
Malaysia’s multi-cultural and racial layers would appeal to a broad base of film producers, worldwide, but particularly China and India. The country also has cultural links to Europe through its Portuguese and colonial British architecture as well as the dominant Malay, Chinese and Indian cultures that make up Malaysian society.

BANGKOK, 31 October 2012: Ministry of Tourism and Sports’ Thailand Film Office Department reported, Monday, that Thailand earned a record of Bt1,468.82 million from on-location film shoots, January to September of 2012.
The department reported that there were 464 films, documentaries, advertising, TV series, and music video filmed on location in Thailand generating Bt1,468.82 million in tourism related revenue compared to 500 productions and circulated Bt969.61 million during the same period last year.
Of 464 productions, there were 80 documentaries, 251 advertising, 70 television programmes, 26 music video productions, and 37 films.

BANGKOK, 21 September 2012: Ministry of Tourism and Sports’ Thailand Film Office Department reported, earlier this week, that Thailand earned a record Bt1,864.38 million from on-location film shoots in Thailand during January to August of 2012.
The department reported there were 423 films, documentaries, advertising, TV series, and music videos filmed on location in Thailand generating Bt1,864.38 million in tourism related revenue compared to 454 productions and circulated Bt869.93 million during the same period last year.
Of 423 productions, there were 70 documentaries, 227 advertising, 65 television programmes, 24 music video productions, and 37 films.

BANGKOK, 7 September 2012: Ministry of Tourism and Sports’ Thailand Film Office Department reported, earlier this week, that Thailand earned a record Bt1,731.04 million from on-location film shoots in Thailand during January to July of 2012.
The department indicated that there were 375 films, documentaries, advertising, TV series, and music video filmed on location in Thailand generating Bt1,731.04 million in tourism related revenue compared to 401 productions and circulated Bt771.01 million during the same period last year.
Of 375 productions, there were 63 documentaries, 206 advertising, 51 television programmes, 23 music video productions, and 32 films.

BANGKOK, 23 July 2012: Ministry of Tourism and Sports’ Thailand Film Office Department reported, late last week, that Thailand earned a record Bt1,551.16 million from on-location film shoots during January to June of 2012.
The department indicated that there were 335 films, documentaries, advertising, TV series, and music video filmed on location in Thailand generating Bt1,551.16 million in revenue compared to 354 productions and circulated Bt677.45 million during the same period last year.
Of 335 productions, there were 56 documentaries, 184 advertising, 49 television programmes, 18 music video productions, and 28 films.
