Thailand’s smart plans for expansion

BANGKOK, 29 October 2017: Thailand’s business travel sector should gain a  push from the government’s “Thailand 4.0” development strategy and elaborate plans to develop the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) including a major airport expansion.

The Eastern Economic Corridor plan, announced earlier this year, covers three provinces; Chachoengsao, Chonburi, Rayong, east and southeast, of Bangkok.

Public and private investment could reach THB1.5 trillion  (USD43 Billion) over five years. Read more

Report identifies Thailand MICE power

DUBLIN, 3 May 2017: Research and Markets has released its latest report “Thailand MICE Industry & Forecast to 2022” that forecasts the country will host more than 1.3 million MICE travellers by 2022.

The report suggests Thailand’s Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions (MICE) sourced internationally will generate USD4 Billion revenue.

The MICE industry is one of the key sectors that Thailand is developing, mainly through the government’s Thailand Conventions and Exhibitions Bureau (TCEB) in a bid to draw quality international visitors. Read more

TCEB spices up its 2017 offers

BANGKOK, 11 April 2017: Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau has reintroduced the Spice Up Thailand 2017 campaign for the fourth year in a row offering a discount of up to 50% for MICE travellers.

The latest edition of the campaign offers special privileges for MICE travellers, such as 10% hotel discounts, 50% discounts for car rentals and airport transfers, THB500 cash coupons for shopping, 25% restaurant discounts, and 50% off golf course green fees.

In addition, other hotel, shopping, dining, wellness, activity and transportation promotions are on offer. Read more

TCEB’s domestic MICE priorities

TCEB targets Indonesia

BANGKOK, 31 May 2016: Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau will pursue Indonesia’s exhibition delegates to boost trade show attendance in Thailand.

TCEB vice president, Supawan Teerarat, said Indonesia has high potential to boost attendance for Thailand’s trade exhibitions.

“We will work with the Thai Exhibition Association to assist Thai exhibition organisers to tap Indonesian industry associations to increase international exhibition delegates by another 15% the next year.” Read more

BANGKOK, 19 April 2016: Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau says attracting exhibitions to be hosted in Thailand creates a bridge to boost the country’s business and economy.

TCEB Strategic and Business Development vice president, Supawan Teerarat, said the exhibition sector is a mechanism to strengthen the  economy.

Cambodia’s SMEs prosper

PHNOM PENH, 4 April 2016: Federation of Association for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises of Cambodia says the country’s SMEs earned USD1.9 billion in revenue, last year, mainly in the tourism sector.

Phnom Penh Post quoted the federation president, Te Taing Por, saying promotional events such as the Agri-Tourism Exhibition and the Sea and River Festival were big revenue generators for Cambodian SMEs.

“We make a lot of profit from exhibitions and other events, which means the tourism sector greatly helps SMEs,” he said. Read more

Phuket marina taps events

PHUKET, 20 October 2015: Royal Phuket Marina will host three international exhibitions over 11 weeks, bringing more than 10,000 visitors to Phuket.

The marina’s events season starts with the Asia-Pacific Cigar, Whisky & Lifestyle Expo (APCWL) hosted 23 to 25 October.

It represents a first for Asia, organised by Hathor Investment Group – an investment management company focused on hospitality and headquartered in Hong Kong.

TCEB on tour with marts

BANGKOK, 5 March 2015: The second edition of Thailand Domestic MICE Mart, opened Tuesday, at the Bangkok Convention Centre, Centara Grand at CentralWorld, Bangkok in a move to support local events.

Speaking at the media conference on mart’s opening day organiser, Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau president, Nopparat Maythaveekulchai said it would stimulate the domestic MICE market.

TCEB has identified the mart, which will move around the country’s top events destination until June,  this year, as a priority in its marketing campaign.

TCEB bankrolls exhibition expansion

BANGKOK, 26 January 2015: Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau launched its ASEAN Rising Trade Show campaign to pull more business for exhibitions in five key sectors over the next three years.

The five key rising sectors are: automotive; energy; infrastructure; food & agriculture; and health & wellness. It will involve substantial support grants for exhibition organisers who can pledge to draw more foreign support for what have been largely domestic shows.

Speaking at Thailand International Exhibitions & Events Forum 2015, last Friday, TCEB Strategic and Business Development vice president, Supawan Teerarat, said the campaign would help the country prepare for the ASEAN Economic Community.
