Thailand ratifies aviation treaty

BANGKOK, 30 August 2017: Thailand became the 127th country to ratify the Montreal Convention, earlier this month, that identifies an airline’s liability to its customers.

Established in 1999, travellers could be forgiven for thinking Thailand’s airlines were already adhering to all the convention’s facets of customer and passenger care.

According to IATA, the Montreal Convention (MC99) addresses issues that were left uncovered in the Warsaw Convention. Read more

UNWTO treaty will raise tourist confidence

MADRID, 10 February 2017: UNWTO says it is looking out for tourists by drafting an international convention to protect travellers and build consumer confidence in the tourism service suppliers.

The convention will identify the responsibilities of signatory states to facilitate visitors during a national emergency.

The process has taken more than six years, so far, following a decision in 2011 to create a global legal framework, but UNWTO now says the project is entering its final phase. Read more

ITB discourse on disruptive travel

BERLIN, 12 January 2017: ITB Berlin will present a record selection of conference content for delegates attending this year’s travel fair, 8 to 12 March.

The show’s convention component  over four days  will deliver 200 sessions, 400 speakers on the latest topics ranging from geopolitical crises and disasters to artificial intelligence.

Danang to host golf convention

DANANG, 23 November 2016: Danang will host the 6th Asia Golf Tourism Convention (AGTC) a golf travel event that combines a golf tour with meetings, 7 to 13 May next year.

Local media quoted the city’s tourism department vice director, Nguyen Xuan Binh, saying 600 tour operators, golf course managers, travel agency and airline representatives, and tourism managers from 39 countries in the Asia Pacific region will join the event.

“The event will also be an opportunity for buyers and sellers to exchange information about tourism services, destinations, hospitality and conferences relating to the tourism industry.” Read more

Minor meets at PEACH

PATTAYA, 25 September 2015: Over 900 delegates of the Minor Food Group attended the “Manager Conference 2015” at the Royal Cliff Hotels Group’s Pattaya Exhibition And Convention Hall (PEACH) last week.

Delegates met for a three-day event of team building activities and seminars. It is the second time the event has been held at the resort’s convention centre.

PEACH is Pattaya’s only custom-built convention centre that is set in its own complex close the group’s cluster of five-star resort properties. Read more

World Spa convention in Bangkok

BANGKOK, 2 September 2015: World Spa & Wellbeing Convention 2015 is on schedule to open 24 September with organisers saying the 17 August Erawan Shrine bombing has not impacted on registrations.

Around 15,000 trade visitors are expected to attend the three-day event, 24 to 26 September, at the Impact Exhibition and Convention Centre in Bangkok.

The 4th edition of World Spa & Wellbeing Convention (WSWC2015) organised by the Thai Spa Association (TSPA) will be hosted side-by-side with the second edition of Beyond Beauty ASEAN-Bangkok.
