AirAsia X bags ARC awardss

SEPANG, 29 August 2017: AirAsia X Berhad’s 2016 annual report has won two gold awards at the International Annual Report Competition (ARC) Awards for the first time ever.

The airline won the top prize in two categories, Best Non-Traditional Annual Report (Airlines) and Printing and Production (Airlines). It also bagged silver in the Cover Photo/Design (Airlines) category.

The annual report, themed “Realising Dreams”, features a memorable cover of three adorable children – a boy donning a pilot’s uniform, a girl wearing a cabin crew uniform, and another boy in ordinary clothes with a boarding pass in his pocket like a passenger – to inspire children to strive to make their dreams come true. Travellers’ poll names top airlines

BANGKOK, 13 July 2017: Singapore Airlines swept all airline categories in the annual SmartTravelAsia Best in Travel Poll.

Conducted annually since 2004 the online magazine’s awards are based on votes by readers, who have made more than 12 trips a year and have an income of more than USD156,000.

Singapore Airlines swept the board winning Best Airline Worldwide, Best Business Class and Best Cabin Service. Read more

Asian airlines dominate Skytrax’s top 10

BANGKOK, 27 June 2017: Asian airlines dominated Skytrax’s 2017 top 10 rankings of the World Airlines Awards taking six of the 10 leading slots.

Qatar Airways took the top award, but Singapore Airlines was a close second, while Japan’s ANA was third, Cathay Pacific fifth, Taiwan’s EVA sixth, China’s Hainan ninth and Indonesia’s Garuda 10th.

Middle East Airlines, Qatar (first) Emirates, fourth and Etihad, eighth, illustrated the brand strength of the three gateway carriers that now carry the lion’s share of the traffic between Southeast Asia and Europe. Read more

Indian tucker at its best

BANGKOK, 23 June 2017: Rang Mahal restaurant at the 407-room Rembrandt Hotel Bangkok has won the Editor’s Choice Award for Indian cuisine at the 19th Bangkok’s Best Restaurant awards.

The Rang Mahal was selected by a panel of five judges, with 12 to 23 nominees in each category vying for recognition by Bangkok’s most respected awards in the hospitality industry.

Mekong startups win cash awards

LUANG PRABANG, 13 July 2017: GoP a travel app startup company serving domestic travellers in Myanmar walked away with the USD10,000 prize at the inaugural MIST awards presentation during the Mekong Tourism Forum last week.

GoP works like a typical travel agency by working with tour operators, hotels tour providers, restaurants and transport operators to offer vacations to Myanmar’s family market. It won the MIST Startup Accelerator Award that comes with a USD10,000 cash prize.

The Mekong Innovative Startup Tourism (MIST) Accelerator Programme’s final pitch and awards presentations were key highlights of this year’s Mekong Tourism Forum, held in Luang Prabang, Laos. Read more

SHANGHAI, 8 June 2017: ASIA DMC has been named winner at the World Travel Awards in an impressive six categories.

The company was awarded Asia’s Leading Destination Management Company 2017 and also received accolades for the leading DMC in Thailand, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia and Myanmar.

Awards for being sustainable

SINGAPORE, 8 June 2017: Tourism operators in Southeast Asia who claim they are sustainable can prove it by entering the new ASEAN Sustainable Tourism Awards (ASTA), launched under the ASEAN’s Tourism Strategic Plan 2016 to 2025.

Twenty sustainable tourism winners – two from each ASEAN member state – will receive a package of benefits that will raise their business profile.

Winners will be highlighted on their national tourist office website and stand to gain exposure through NTO press conferences at trade shows such as ATF, TRAVEX, ITB and WTM. Read more

Ctrip honours Marco Polo

Thai hotels win gold

BANGKOK, 19 May 2017: Thailand ranked the 10th country globally to feature the highest number of gold award-winning properties according to the Loved by Guests Awards 2017.

Released last week, the awards are based on’s analysis of more than 25 million guest reviews, with 2,500 hotels across 87 countries. Those taking home the top prize of a Loved by Guests Gold Award  have all achieved an average guest review rating of 4.7 or higher* (out of 5). Read more
