ASIA DMC bags six awards

SHANGHAI, 8 June 2017: ASIA DMC has been named winner at the World Travel Awards in an impressive six categories.

The company was awarded Asia’s Leading Destination Management Company 2017 and also received accolades for the leading DMC in Thailand, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia and Myanmar.

ASIA DMC founder Tran Thanh Nam attended the gala ceremony held at Grand Kempinski Hotel Shanghai on the 4 June to collect the awards, accompanied by group managing director Linh Le and Indochina Managing Director Nguyen Thi Tuyet. Read more

Awards for being sustainable

SINGAPORE, 8 June 2017: Tourism operators in Southeast Asia who claim they are sustainable can prove it by entering the new ASEAN Sustainable Tourism Awards (ASTA), launched under the ASEAN’s Tourism Strategic Plan 2016 to 2025.

Twenty sustainable tourism winners – two from each ASEAN member state – will receive a package of benefits that will raise their business profile.

Winners will be highlighted on their national tourist office website and stand to gain exposure through NTO press conferences at trade shows such as ATF, TRAVEX, ITB and WTM. Read more

Ctrip honours Marco Polo

HONG KONG, 6 June 2017: Marco Polo Hongkong Hotel, Gateway Hotel and Prince Hotel have been recognised with a Ctrip Award 2016.

Marco Polo Hongkong Hotel was named the Best Business Hotel, Gateway Hotel won Best Popular Hotel, and Prince Hotel received the Best Family-friendly Hotel accolade from Ctrip, signifying that the three hotels have consistently earned outstanding feedback from Ctrip guests on its global platform.

Thai hotels win gold

BANGKOK, 19 May 2017: Thailand ranked the 10th country globally to feature the highest number of gold award-winning properties according to the Hotels.com Loved by Guests Awards 2017.

Released last week, the awards are based on Hotels.com’s analysis of more than 25 million guest reviews, with 2,500 hotels across 87 countries. Those taking home the top prize of a Loved by Guests Gold Award  have all achieved an average guest review rating of 4.7 or higher* (out of 5). Read more

ONYX awards creativity

BANGKOK, 16 May 2017: ONYX Hospitality Group’s Arts for The Planet 2017 awarded Kasetsart University’s Scrap Lab students for their creative and innovative up-cycling achievements.

The group’s president and CEO,  Peter Henley congratulated students of Kasetsart University’s Scrap Lab who won the Best Design, Inspiring Design and Creative Design Awards as part of its Arts for the Planet 2017 project.

Winners will be announced  18 January  at the UNWTO Awards Ceremony, to be held at the International Tourism Fair in Spain (FITUR).

SINGAPORE, 5 May 2017: Thirty-one individuals and organisations were recognised, Thursday evening, for exceptional achievements at the Singapore Tourism Awards 2017.

Organised by the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) and held at Shangri-La Hotel, the Singapore Tourism Awards’ presentation ceremony was presided over by Trade and Industry Minister S Iswaran.

STB chief executive Lionel Yeo said: “The Singapore Tourism Awards aim to raise industry standards by showcasing the best of what Singapore has to offer.” Read more

ITB China: Startup have a day in the sun

SHANGHAI, 2 May 2017: The ITB China Startup Awards scheduled for the inaugural trade show will recognise companies that have turned dreams and ideas into viable business solutions.

Short-listed innovators from startup companies that have launched their products within the last three years will demonstrate their innovative solutions to a  jury comprising experienced industry professionals.

Given just eight minutes to make their pitch, the innovators have to explain how their product will impact on the future of the travel industry. The presentations will take place 11 May from 1520 to 1650 in the conference centre. Read more

WTTC names annual award winners

BANGKOK, 28 April 2017: World Travel & Tourism Council announced, Thursday, the Winners of the 2017 Tourism for Tomorrow Awards.

The Tourism for Tomorrow Awards honour “inspirational, world-changing tourism initiatives from all over the globe,” the WTTC announcement read.

Awards were presented in five categories, which reflected the WTTC’s aim of ‘balancing the interests of people, planet, and profits’. Read more
