Landmark Lancaster names manager

BANGKOK, 2 April 2013: Landmark Hotel has appointed Douglas Glen as its hotel manager and area director of F&B for Landmark Lancaster Hotel Group, the group’s managing director, Jatuporn Sihanatkathakul, announced last week.

Mr Glen will be responsible for The Landmark Bangkok, as the hotel manager and oversee food & beverage of Lancaster Bangkok, an upcoming sister hotel due to soft-open during the second-half of 2013.

He  has worked in the hotel industry for 25 years mainly in five-star hotels including 13 years with Landmark London, where he held various management positions, including hotel manager and director of conference & banqueting.

GHM strengthens sales teams

SINGAPORE, 7 March 2013: GHM has reinforced its sales and marketing force by appointing two seasoned industry professionals in Bali and Vietnam.

Last week, Katharina Kustos assumed the role of director of sales and marketing for both The Chedi Club Tanah Gajah and The Legian on Bali, while Debbie Chee took over the same responsibility for The Nam Hai in Vietnam.

Kustos moves to Indonesia from Dubai, where she spent six years working in sales positions for the Jumeirah Group and, most recently, Park Hyatt Dubai.

Travelport names China MD

BEIJING, 6 February 2013: Travelport, a bookings service provider to the global travel industry, has named George Harb as its new managing director for China, responsible for the development of strategic business opportunities for Travelport.

The appointment takes immediate effect. Mr Harb has been working for Travelport for more than seven years. Prior to his new role as managing director of China, he served as marketing director, Asia Pacific, and was later promoted to commercial director, Asia in 2007, where he was responsible for the Travelport territories of Hong Kong, Taiwan and China, and more recently managing Travelport’s distributor relationships across the Asia Pacific region.

Over the past three years, he has been actively involved in supporting Travelport’s cooperation with Travelsky, including the recent partnership agreement relating to the distribution of hotel content.

TG names new com chief

BANGKOK, 21 November 2012: Thai Airways International’s board of directors last week appointed a new commercial chief and gave him a target of 12% revenue growth to be met before to the commercial department’s next annual conference in 2013.

The board replaced Pandit Chanapai, executive vice president, commercial with Danuj Bunnag, managing director, ground services business unit with immediate effect.

A veteran airline executive, Mr Danuj will lead the commercial team which needs to reach a goal of Bt184 billion or a growth of 12% in 2013. He played a vital role in establishing the airline’s online services and was head of the airline’s  Thailand Amadeus programme that later became a separate entity.

Dusit expands Euro sales team

BANGKOK, 14 November 2012: Two key new senior appointments designed to improve  bookings from Europe were confirmed by the Dusit Thani Group, Monday.

Simon Trengove-Jones was named  the group’s new regional director of sales, Europe, while German national, Marie-Rose Vesterling joins as senior sales manager, Europe, effective 15 November.

Both positions are based at the Dusit International European regional sales office in the UK.

Hoteliers on the move

BANGKOK, 1 November 2012: Three new appointments in Thailand’s hotel industry were announced earlier this week.

Dusit International has introduced two new positions in its sales department; director of sales – Russia and Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and director of sales –meetings and incentives.

The Russian and CIS appointment went to Sergy Kutuzov and director of sales – Meeting and Incentive Travel to Dorinda Chua.

This week’s hotel appointments

BANGKOK, 19 October 2012: Three appointments by international hotel chains were announced, earlier this week, for two new general managers and a director of sales.

Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group announced the appointment of Benjamin Krieg as general manager at the Radisson Suites Bangkok Sukhumvit.

With over 15 years of experience in Asia Pacific, Mr Krieg will be responsible for the  management at the Radisson Suites Bangkok. Prior to joining the group, Mr Krieg worked for Accor Group where he held several general manager positions at hotels such as Mercure Geelong in Victoria and Ibis Sydney King Street Wharf.

Khiri expands sales team

BANGKOK, 21 September 2012 – Khiri Travel has appointed representatives for UK and Australia and launched a service-focused sales campaign.

The new drive is designed to expand and diversify Khiri’s source markets. The sales campaign by the Mekong region tour operator runs to November 2012.

Two experienced travel industry figures have been hired to drive the expansion. Effective immediately, Jonathan Wilkins has been appointed as Khiri Travel Sales Representative – UK.

SAN FRANCISCO, 13 September 2012: Cathay Pacific Airways has appointed Tom Owen as its senior vice president, Americas.

Mr Owen will be responsible for the overall management of Cathay Pacific’s American operations, and will be based in the company’s US headquarters in San Francisco.

BANGKOK, 29 August 2012: Mode Sathorn Hotel, managed by Siam@Siam Hotel Group, announced two new appointments Monday ahead of its September opening.

Mode Sathorn Hotel general manager, Pinit Krisanavanit, named Thawee Kugasenrat as director of sales & marketing and Maneerat Vechasit as communications & public relations manager.

In his new role, Mr Thawee will be responsible for strategies planning and implementation of sales and marketing including overseas markets. Mr Thawee has worked for the Royal Garden Hotels & Resorts, Pan Pacific Hotel Bangkok, Hard Rock Hotel Pattaya, Montien Riverside Hotel and Crowne Plaza Bangkok Lumpuni Park.
