Korea: Boxing holidays the latest craze

BANGKOK, 8 December 2017: Thailand and Korea will celebrate the 60th anniversary of Thailand-Korea relations in 2018, a celebration that will be included in the events calendar of the Thailand Tourism Year.

Korean tourist arrivals to Thailand increased to 1.4 million in 2016 and in the first half of this year visits had already reached 700,000  up 3% on the previous year.

Joint celebrations will mark the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations with Korea along with promotions to draw more tourists from Korea during the off-peak months of 2018. Read more

Flying with the RAF’s Red Arrows

DOHA, 2 October 2017:  – Qatar Airways celebrated its 20th anniversary at the weekend as thousands of people watched a Qatar Airways aircraft fly over Doha escorted by the world-famous Red Arrows aerobatic display team.

The event was hosted by the British Ambassador to the State of Qatar, Ajay Sharma, and Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive, Akbar Al Baker.

The thrilling display took place in the skies above Doha as the Qatar Airways Airbus A350, for which the airline was the global launch customer, flew in formation with the British Royal Air Force’s (RAF) iconic Red Arrows. Read more

Talks on linking Vietnam and Cambodia’s tourism

PHNOM PENH, 31 August 2017: Vietnamese and Cambodian tourism officials met in Phnon Penh, earlier this week, to explore how to boost tourism between the two countries.

Vietnam’s General Department of Tourism, under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism met with officials from with Cambodia’s Ministry of Tourism and the Embassy of Vietnam in Cambodia for the event hosted in Phnom Penh, Tuesday, Vietnam Breaking News reported.

Celebration for the 50th anniversary of the founding of Vietnam-Cambodia diplomatic relations was the core element for the gathering of tourism officials. Read more

Vietnam cancels Long Tan ceremony

SYDNEY, 18 August 2016: Vietnamese authorities will now allow access for Australian war veterans to visit Long Tan Cross site, today, 18 August, but with strict conditions.

According to the Australian Government Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade only small groups (staggered throughout the day) will be allowed at the site. Media presence has been banned outright.

Yesterday, AFP reported Vietnam cancelled a long-arranged commemoration ceremony for Australian war veterans. Read more

The 2017 Golden Jubilee celebration will highlight ASEAN’s top 50 festivals and the 50 most unforgettable travel experiences, that will  focus on destinations, food, events, and encounters with local communities.

Singapore turns 50

SINGAPORE, 10 August 2015: Independent Singapore turned 50 Sunday with fireworks, a massive military parade and a tribute to late founding leader Lee Kuan Yew, who helped transform it from colonial backwater to regional powerhouse.

Lee, the authoritarian ruler who died in March aged 91, was honoured with a video on his life and times at the beginning of the annual National Day Parade, the first he had ever missed.

The crowd — decked in the red and white Singapore colours and many in tears — greeted the tribute with a robust round of applause.

TAT motors on at 55

BANGKOK, 19 March 2015: The Tourism Authority of Thailand marked its 55th anniversary at an event, Wednesday, attended by senior TAT officials as well as members of the tourism private sector and media.

Established as the Tourism Organisation of Thailand in 1960, TAT has been at the forefront of the country’s tourism marketing efforts. It has undertaken numerous marketing campaigns, worldwide, to help boost visitor arrivals and make tourism one of the most important job creators and foreign exchange earning industries.

Invited guests were asked not to present TAT with flowers but to make donations to the National Elephant Institute.
