Accor jumps on Orient Express train

SINGAPORE, 10 October 2017: AccorHotels plans to develop a brand of new properties under the Orient Express banner after buying a stake in the iconic luxury train operator.

The hotel company has signed a partnership with French train operator SNCF which includes taking a 50% stake in Orient Express. SNCF previously owned all of Orient Express.

Accor said that the deal would allow it to “strengthen its leadership in the luxury segment” with the Orient Express collection of hotels aiming to become “the very epitome of the art of travel”. Read more

Accor bids for Mantra

SYDNEY, 10 October 2017: France’s AccorHotels has made a AUD1.17 billion (USD910 million) bid for one of Australia’s biggest hotel operators, the Mantra Group, the local company said Monday in a move that sent its share price soaring.

Mantra, which operates more than 20,000 rooms in Australia, New Zealand and Indonesia, said it had received an offer of AUD3.96 cash per share, valuing the firm at Aus$1.17 billion.

“Mantra has granted Accor access to due diligence to determine if a transaction can be agreed and recommended unanimously by the Mantra board,” the Australian-listed company said in a statement. Read more

Two Thai hotels for sale

BANGKOK 7 September 2017: JLL Hotels & Hospitality Group have been appointed the exclusive agent to sell two internationally branded hotels in Thailand’s top tourist destinations, Bangkok and Phuket.

The ‘for sale’ signs have been posted for the Four Points by Sheraton Bangkok Sukhumvit and Novotel Phuket Karon Beach Resort & Spa.

Managed by Marriott International, the 268-key Four Points by Sheraton Bangkok Sukhumvit sits on approximately 900 sq wah  (approx. 3,600 sqm) of land in a prime location on Bangkok’s main commercial, tourism and leisure precinct Sukhumvit and within a five-minute walk to three BTS skytrain and MRT underground stations. Midscale Mercure on Maldives

SINGAPORE, 23 August 2017: Mercure Maldives Kooddoo welcomed its first guests, 20 August, at its Gaafu Alifu Atoll island location.

Accor resort to be a Raffles

SINGAPORE, 22 August 2017: AccorHotels announced its first management contract for a resort in the Maldives, effective 1 September.

The group will take over Dhevanafushi Maldives Luxury Resort that occupies the private island of Meradhoo.

The resort will be repositioned following improvements to be completed by late 2018. It will then join the iconic collection of Raffles hotels and resorts. Read more

DOHA, 3 February 2017: Qatar Airways and AccorHotels, have agreed to offer reciprocal benefits to members across both loyalty programmes.

For the first time, Qatar Airways Privilege Club members can convert their Qmiles into Le Club AccorHotels points for redemption on accommodation at more than 3,400 hotels and resorts across the hotel group’s network.

Le Club AccorHotels loyalty programme members can convert their points to Qatar Airways Privilege Club Qmiles for redemption on flights to the more than 150 places the airline flies. Read more

Accor buys stake 25Hours

Accor expands Pullman in China

SINGAPORE, 28 August 2015: Accor Hotels and Yichang Xin Hua Yuan Real Estate announced the signing of Pullman Yichang, Wednesday, the first Pullman hotel in Hubei Province, China.

The 250-room new-build hotel will open in the middle of 2018.

Steeped in history, Yichang is the second-largest in Hubei Province after Wuhan, and an important transportation hub. Read more

Pullman adds a KL property

KUALA LUMPUR, 5 August 2015: Accor Hotels opened the Pullman Kuala Lumpur City Centre Hotel & Residences, 1 August.

Located in Bukit Bintang district, the hotel has 445 rooms and 157 serviced apartments.

Formerly the Prince Hotel & Residence Kuala Lumpur, the hotel will undergo a full refurbishment over the next two years to achieve global Pullman standards, but will remain open throughout the process.

Accor confirms Adelaide Sofitel

ADELAIDE, 23 April 2015: Accor has confirmed a new Sofitel Hotel will be built in Adelaide’s central business district – the first internationally branded luxury hotel to be built in the city in nearly three decades.

Adelaide developer and investor, Palumbo will build the new hotel in the heart of the city on Currie Street and has signed an agreement with Accor, to manage the hotel under its Sofitel brand.

The AUD140 million hotel development is scheduled to open in 2018. The hotel will be the sixth Sofitel in Australia and the first in South Australia.
