TCEB outlines 2017 plan

BANGKOK, 30 December 2016: Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau outlines strategies and action plans to boost events hosted in Thailand next year.

TCEB president, Nopparat Maythaveekulchai, said the plan will focus on integration of public and private partnerships at the national and international level to help create new MICE events, while attracting high quality MICE events.

To generate revenue, the bureau will target Asia, Europe, the Americas and Oceania markets. Read more

TCEB offers incentives to meet in Thailand

BANGKOK, 6 December 2016: Thailand Convention and Exhibitions Bureau has launched “Thailand CONNECT Your Vibrant Journey to Business Success” campaign targeting Europe’s meeting planners.

The campaign aims to attract more business events from Europe to Thailand.

It was officially launched at IBTM World, Barcelona 2016, late last month, to international MICE delegates and media representatives. Read more

Emerging trends in events business

SINGAPORE, 30 November 2016: A new survey on the state of the meetings industry suggests delegates are looking for teambuilding activities and intend to combine business events with time-out to enjoy a travel experience.

US-based Destination Hotels, a collection of upscale independent hotels, resorts and residences now part of Two Roads Hospitality, released key findings in its fifth annual “State of the Meetings Industry” survey, Wednesday.

Based on responses from 400 corporate, association, government and independent planners, the survey concluded that Millennials were keen to join more team building events. Read more

TCEB underwrites convention hosts

BANGKOK, 27 September 2016: Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau will concentrate on professional associations to bid for events in five key business sectors, according to its 2017 business plan.

The government’s Thailand 4.0 economic model aims to develop Thailand into a value-based economy, and high income country driven by creativity and innovations.

TCEB president, Nopparat Maythaveekulchai, confirmed  it the bureau will concentrate on five key industries; health and wellness; energy; food and agribusiness; infrastructure and logistics; and automotive and electronics. Read more

Outrigger wins MICE award

PHUKET, 16 September 2016: The Outrigger Laguna Phuket Beach Resort has won the “Best Island Resort for MICE” in the 2016 China Travel & Meetings Industry Awards – Business Travel & MICE.

The awards ceremony, hosted by M&C China, Northstar Travel Group, took place in Beijing, 6 September.

Since its debut in 2002, China Travel & Meetings Industry Awards, organised by Travel Weekly China, have recognised the best enterprises in China’s travel, meeting and incentive industry. Read more

Are traditional guides redundant?

CHIANG MAI, 15 July 2016: Destination Asia is one of the first tour operators to team up with Chiang Mai’s Tab-Tour offering tourists a do-it-yourself tour of the city’s heritage attractions minus a tour guide.

Destination Asia reported, last week, in a news update that it has teamed up with Tab Tour Thailand to give clients a tour they can control from the palm of their hand.

Tab-Tour calls the leisure travel module Tourist City Rallies and for the corporate and incentives markets it offers another product using tablets branded “Chiang Mai Treasure Hunt.” Read more

TICA tables at IMEX

BANGKOK, 27 June 2016: A delegation of Thai events promoters will attend the trade show, IMEX America, this October, under the banner of Thailand’s TCEB and TICA.

Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau is cooperating with Thailand Incentive and Convention Association to  offer eight tables (three tables reserved for destination management companies) at IMEX this year.

IMEX America 2016 (America’s Worldwide Exhibition for Meetings, Incentives Travel & Events) will be held from 18 to 20 October at the Sand Expo & Convention Centre, Las Vegas, America. Read more

Royal Projects woo tourists

BANGKOK, 13 June 2016: Tourism Authority of Thailand highlighted Chiang Mai’s local tourism products over the weekend, by organising fam trips for international media who attended the Thailand Travel Mart last week.

The main focus was on the province’s Royal Projects that underscore the country’s efforts to introduce community-based tourism.

Nong Hoi Royal Project Development Centre coordinator, Siriporn Chansuwan, told TTR Weekly that tourism agencies like Tourism Authority of Thailand and Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau have made promoting royal projects a priority. Read more

TCEB moves domestic MICE

BANGKOK, 7 June 2016: Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau plans to boost domestic events to support the government policies to revitalise the country’s economic growth.

TCEB president, Nopparat Maythaveekulchai, said domestic MICE market programmes would play a key role to drive sustainable growth in 2017.

“The bureau has outlined its DMICE promotions with four key strategic projects to encourage public, private, people, and communities to work hand in hand to move forward,” he said last week. Read more
