Mekong destinations appeal to under 30s

-

HANOI, 4 October 2018: Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam, three popular Mekong Region destinations, were given high grades on a ‘Cutacut’ ranking of budget-friendly destinations for the under 30s.

The India-based digital content company’s ranking placed Vietnam in sixth place with neighbour Cambodia taking the fifth spot and Thailand in second place, runner up to Sri Lanka, declared the top destination for not burning a hole in your wallet.

All three destinations are members of ASEAN and fellow member country Indonesia managed seventh place, while  Turkey (3) and Azerbaijan (4) were the two outsiders, two countries standing at the crossroads of eastern Europe and western Asia.

Vietnam is raising its profile with strong showings in regional and global rankings.  It gained a 13th ranking among the 20 best places to visit in October, a list released by UK’s Condé Nast Traveller.

Vietnam welcomed some 11.616 million foreign visitors in the first nine months of 2018, a 22.9% increase from the same period last year, the country’s General Statistics Office (GSO) said in its monthly report.
