Direct air route Chiang Mai to Taipei

-

BANGKOK, 26 July 2018: Thai AirAsia will launch a new service between Chiang Mai and Taipei this September with four weekly flights.

To introduce the service the airline is offering promotional fares starting at THB1,590 one-way.

The four weekly services will operate on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday with the first flight is due to start 30 September, using an Airbus A320.

Thai AirAsia CEO, Santisuk Klongchaiya, said Taipei was among the top destinations for Thai travellers with the increase in traffic driven by a visa waiver for Thai tourists.

“Our introduction of ‘Chiang Mai-Taipei’ means the people of Chiang Mai will be able to visit Taiwan’s capital city, while Taipei’s residents will be able to fly direct to one of Thailand’s most popular tourist cities.  With both cities having such high travel potential, we are sure this will quickly become one of our more popular routes,” said Santisuk.

Earlier the year the Thai AirAsia added a Chiang Mai-Yangon route and now with a Chiang Mai-Taipei flight ready to launch the airline believes it will boost travel to Chiang Mai.

According to the latest statistics 292,534 Thais visited Taiwan last year up 50% due to the visas waiver. Thailand’s Ministry of Tourism and Sports reported that 570,000 Taiwanese visited Thailand up 10%.

Thai AirAsia currently operates 13 domestic and international routes from its Chiang Mai hub.  On international routes, the airline flies Chiang Mai to Macau, Hong Kong, Changsha, Hangzhou, Kuala Lumpur (AK) and Yangon.  On domestic routes, the airline flies Chiang Mai to Udon Thani, Khon Kaen, Pattaya (U-Tapao), Surat Thani, Krabi, Hat Yai, Phuket and Bangkok.
