BANGKOK, 23 July 2018: Thailand’s Deputy Minister of Transport, Pailin Chuchottaworn, checked progress on Suvarnabhumi airport’s third runway project late last week.

The third runway is part of the Suvarnabhumi Airport’s development project that covers fiscal years up to 2020.

The check covered progress on the third runway as well as surrounding support facilities.

Export-Import Bank of Thailand president, Apichai Boontherawara (second from the left), joined the group that was led by Airports of Thailand executives, 20 July.

Suvarnabhumi Airport’s third runway will cost an estimated USD3.5 billion and is due to open in 2020.

A new terminal is also part of the expansion at Suvarnabhumi, which will raise annual passenger handling capacity to 125 million passengers, 90 million international and 35 million domestic passengers by 2024 at an estimated cost of USD5.25 billion.
