Wyndham names regional president

SINGAPORE, 8 June 2018: Wyndham Hotels & Resorts has appointed Joon Aun Ooi as its president and managing director for Southeast Asia and Pacific Rim.

In his new role, Ooi will lead the development of Wyndham Hotels & Resorts’ brands across Southeast Asia and Pacific Rim.

He will report to Wyndham Hotels & Resorts executive vice president and chief operating officer, Bob Loewen. He replaces Barry Robinson, who has been named president and managing director, Wyndham Vacation Clubs, a division of Wyndham Destinations Inc.

Ooi joined Wyndham in 2013 as vice president openings and operations for Wyndham Hotel Group Greater China.

He previously worked in hospitality as vice president strategy at InterContinental Hotels Group before moving to China in 2005 to take on the role of vice president, hotel openings (Greater China).

Ooi was born in Penang and is a permanent resident of Singapore where he will be based. The Singapore office has been established as the region’s new headquarters and is supported by offices in Australia, Indonesia, Thailand and South Korea.
