Triptease takes on OTAs in Asia

-

LONDON, 27 June 2018 – Triptease, a software-as-a-service (SaaS) travel startup, which helps hotels to increase direct bookings has raised USD4 million and intends to build its presence in Asia

The additional funding from its investors BGF and Notion Capital takes the total raised since last year to USD13 million.

The new money from BGF and Notion Capital will be used to help build Triptease’s business in Asia, where the company opened a Singapore office last year.

At the same time the company is expanding its global leadership team and has made changes in the last few months, to step up expansion in Asia.

Richard Collins, the company’s first Chief Revenue Officer, joined in March from Click Software, while Alexandra Zubko, co-founder and GM of the Americas, will become Chief Customer Officer. A GM for the Asia-Pacific region will be appointed shortly.

Triptease provides a data-driven software platform for hotels looking to increase their online conversion rate in the face of intense competition from online travel agencies (OTAs).

Hotels anxious to cut back on large commissions paid to OTAs are keen to tap solutions that enable travellers to complete bookings through their website.

The Triptease direct booking platform integrates with a hotel’s own website and booking engine. The result is a smoother booking process. It claims to give hotels 20% more people booking direct on a hotel website.

Triptease founder, Charlie Osmond, says: “We are delighted that our investors want to back us further in our bid to shift the world to direct bookings. A direct relationship with customers reduces a hotel’s spend on middleman commissions whilst allowing them to offer cutting-edge services like mobile check-in.”
