Scoot flies to Berlin

-

BANGKOK, 21 June 2018: Scoot, the low-cost subsidiary of the Singapore Airlines Group, launched its inaugural flight to Berlin Wednesday.

Offering four weekly nonstop flights on the Singapore-Berlin route, this is Scoot’s third long-haul destination after Athens in Greece and Honolulu in the US.

Scoot’s flight, TR734, departed Singapore Changi Airport at 1225 local time and received a traditional water cannon salute upon arriving at Berlin Tegel Airport at 0720 am local time.

The Boeing 787 Dreamliner flight carried 311 passengers, around 95% of the aircraft’s seat capacity.

Most of the passengers were from Singapore, Indonesia and Australia and half of them young adults between 18 and 35 years old.

Scoot is known for organising parties, band performances and even an inflight wedding on board its flights. This time, passengers were invited to take part in an electro dance party.

Commenting on the new flight, Scoot CEO Lee Lik Hsin said: “With the addition of Berlin, just a year after we successfully launched Athens and Honolulu, Scoot’s network continues to grow.”

Scoot offers economy class with competitive fares, while it also has business class offering 30 kg of checked baggage, meals and drinks.

The 787 Dreamliners have inflight Wi-Fi, in-seat power and inflight TV entertainment streamed to passengers’ devices.

Currently, it offers a network of 65 destinations across 18 countries and territories, with Nanchang to join next month.

Its fleet of 17 Dreamliners and 24 Airbus A320  aircraft will expand with three more Boeing 787 Dreamliners and 39 Airbus A320neo aircraft on order. By 2020 it should have 70 aircraft.

With the addition of Berlin, the SIA Group network in Germany includes four cities; Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, and Munich flown by SIA and Berlin on Scoot offering a total of 29 return services a week.

To mark the launch Scoot is offering a one-way fare (Bangkok-Berlin) of THB 7,380 in economy and THB 22,180 in business, for travel until 27 October. The offer is open for just one day, 21 June.
