According to the Communist Party of Vietnam’s bulletin, the excavations will completed by 3 September in an area of 600 sqm. Any historical items recovered at the site will be stored and possibly exhibited at the Hue Museum of Royal Antiquities.

The Hue Monuments Conservation Centre and the Vietnam National Museum of History will submit an initial report to the Department of Cultural Heritage and will publish a full report within one year.

Hai Van is a mountain peak in the Truong Son range and its summit is a vantage point facing the sea. On its peak, a former king of the Nguyen Dynasty (1802-1945) built the brick gate in 1826 to mark the border of the former Hue imperial capital’s land and named it Hai Van Quan. It was recognized as national heritage site in 2017.
