BANGKOK, 4 April 2018: Top of the Gulf Regatta’s 14th edition will be held 27 April to 1 May at Ocean Marina Yacht Club.
The event has been hosted by Ocean Marina for the last 13 years and this year it will be the platform for the demonstration of the all-new boat built in Thailand that is designed especially for people with disabilities.
Owned and organised by Ocean Property, the regatta is hosted by Ocean Marina Yacht Club with support from the Yacht Racing Association of Thailand, Royal Thai Navy, Royal Varuna Yacht Club and Pattaya City.
“Top of the Gulf Regatta views sailing as a sport for all and since year one we have supported youth sailing with Optimist and dinghy classes in the regatta. We will again host the Thailand Optimist National Championships which is the pinnacle of competitive youth sailing in the country,” commented Top of the Gulf Regatta Organising Committee co-chairman, William Gasson.
Competitors are coming 25 countries including Australia, Japan and the UK.
Taking place prior to the Asian Games in Jakarta in August, many countries are sending their national teams and Olympic sailors to compete, including Thailand who will have their full national sailing squad racing in preparation for the regional championships.
“We are looking forward to a strong line-up of international and Thai sailors, and expect more than 200 boats and over 600 sailors in total this year,” added Gasson.
Founded in 2005, the 2018 Top of the Gulf Regatta Presented by Ocean Marina will take place 27 April to 1 May.
