Awards: India and Thailand gain two spots

-

BANGKOK, 22 March 2018: Thailand and India both figured in the latest TripAdvisor’s top 10 Travellers’ Choice® awards for destinations in Asia, but Bali took the top spot.

Bali has consistently figured in the top lists of destinations in TripAdvisor’s categories for Asia and the world in recent years.

But in the latest list of top 10 destinations in Asia, Phuket was named second and Samui sneaked in to take the 10th spot.

India gained two mentions; New Delhi (8) and Goa (9), while Hanoi was in third place.

Other notable placements on the Asia list included Siem Reap, Cambodia, in fourth place and Hong Kong in the seventh spot.

Despite its obvious popularity as a tourism gateway, Bangkok failed to make the top-10 list.

As a consolation Chiang Mai and Krabi town in south Thailand made it to the top-25 list, but that lacks the shine of the top 10 stars.

Bali stands tall for achieving the top spot in Asia and coming in at number four on the global list headed by Paris.

Marketing and sales executives in the tourism and hospitality sectors gauge their performance by how they increase the ranking of a destination, travel product or hotel in TripAdvisor’s surveys. It measures success based on independent reviews and booking trends that marketeers can use to illustrate to owners the success of their activities.

Award winners are determined using an algorithm that takes into account the quantity and quality of reviews and ratings for hotels, restaurants and attractions in destinations worldwide, gathered over a 12-month period, as well as traveller booking interest on TripAdvisor.
