Check-in early for flights

-

SEPANG, Malaysia, 14 February 2018: As Chinese New Year gets underway, AirAsia Group issued a travel advisory telling passengers to arrive early to check-in for flights.

Passengers travelling on AirAsia and AirAsia X should arrive at Sepang airport at least three hours prior to scheduled departures for Air Asia (AK) flights and four hours for AirAsia X (D7) flights to clear all travel formalities, including security, the airline stated.

The advice is applicable for all major gateway airports in the region as they brace for a massive surge in passenger traffic. It will overstretch most airports that are already running well above their maximum capacity.

Airlines that have self check-in services are advising passengers to complete check-in by mobile or kiosk rather than queue at the check-in counters.

However, the main bottleneck remains at counters assigned for drop-off suitcases. Airlines often use these counters to check-in passengers to deal with the long queues.

According to AirAsia, self check-In and self bag tag are fully operational across all airports in Malaysia, while self bag drop is available in Senai International Airport, Kuching International Airport, Langkawi International Airport, Kota Kinabalu International Airport, Miri Airport, Tawau Airport, Sultan Ismail Petra Airport, Penang International Airport, and Sibu Airport.

Baggage drop counters close 60 minutes before flight departure for all AirAsia and AirAsia X flights.
