Music Comes To Penang Streets

-

PENANG, 5  January 2018: Here is an additional suggestion for your January trip planner; a musical event for Penang’s buskers, a rare opportunity to experience grass roots music talent, 20 to 21 January.

For many, busking is considered a genuine musical show by talented artistes as it presents live talent, live music and live action in the authentic environment of a city’s streets.

With self-made songs and music performed directly to a responsive audience, it’s a far cry from the mainstream genre of pop and commercial music that’s played on your mobile or radio.

This month, against the backdrop of the sea and the historic fort at Padang Kota Lama, the two-day Penang International Buskers Festival will bring music to the streets, transforming the tropical island paradise into an outdoor musical carnival.

The home-grown music event runs 1700 to 2300, 20 to 21 January 2018, will welcome global performers from 21 countries who will share their music in English and their native languages with everyone along the streets of Lebuh Pantai in the UNESCO World Heritage area of George Town.

There is no entrance fee at the popular venue, Lebuh Pantai, 10300 George Town, Pulau Pinang.
