SINGAPORE, 12 September 2017: InterContinental Hotels Group has opened the group’s first hotel in Rayong province, Thailand, that will serve business visitors to the eastern seaboard’s factories, industrial park and seaport.

To mark the opening, the hotel is offering guests a special room rate of THB2,555 for stays until 31 October, 2017.

The rate is protected so the best Agoda.com offer matches the IHG deal on “just a few rooms”.

Outside of that limited offer Agoda sells a room at the Holiday Inn at THB2,805 and Expedia sells at THB3,008.

There are 41 hotels that technically reside  in the Rayong city space, but Holiday Inn’s nearest rival price wise is the Kameo Grand Hotel and Serviced Apartments that has an Agoda.com rate of USD65 (THB2,140).

Most hotels flag rates on the OTAs that are slashed 40 to 50%, down to around THB800 to 1,000 plus, suggesting there is an overcapacity of rooms in Rayong town.

The 288-room Holiday Inn & Suites Rayong City Centre is stands on the main street of the city and claims to be the first international standard hotel in the province.

Located on Highway 3, (officially known as Sukhumvit Road) the 30-floor property dominates the city’s skyline right in the heart of downtown Rayong.

U-tapao International Airport is 37.2 km from the hotel,  or a 40-minute car transfer on highway 3.

The airport, serves both Pattaya to the north and Rayong to the east. More international services are now using the airport, which will ultimately be linked by a fast rail train service to Bangkok.

Strategically located close to some of Thailand’s major industrial parks and seaport, it offers 64 long-stay suites in addition to 224 hotel rooms.

Holiday Inn & Suites Rayong City Centre will serve business travellers working at industrial areas such as the Eastern Seaboard Industrial Park or Map Ta Phut Industrial Park.

It is also just a 40-minute drive to Ban Phe, a coastal fishing port where ferries take guests to Samet island.

Commenting on the opening, IHG vice president of operations, Southeast Asia and Korea, Leanne Harwood said: “Rayong is one of Thailand’s fastest growing provinces and a booming industrial hub. The launch of a Holiday Inn branded hotel right in the city centre enables us to cater to business travellers who want to stay in an international hotel brand that they know and trust.”

Featuring nine meeting rooms and a ballroom, the 30-floor hotel should become a popular venue for corporate and government department events.

Holiday Inn & Suites Rayong City Centre joins 21 other IHG hotels in Thailand across five brands, including nine Holiday Inn hotels and resorts. Over the next three to five years, the group is planning to open another five Holiday Inn branded hotels across the country.
