China attracts ASEAN interest


GUANGZHOU, China, 5 September 2017: The China (Guangdong) International Tourism Industry Expo 2017 (CITIE) will open 8 September at the China Import and Export Fair Complex, here in Guangzhou.

By the time the expo closes, 10 September, the organisers promise business transactions will have been concluded that will tap China’s vast outbound travel market particular for Asian destinations.

Show organisers confirmed more than 4,500 booths have booked 90,000 m2 of exhibition space presenting travel content from 55 countries and 22 Chinese provinces, and autonomous regions.

The number of new exhibitors is over 200, nearly twice the total registered in 2016.

Twenty tourism agencies from Thailand will participate in the expo for the first time.

In addition more than 50 enterprises from the 10 ASEAN countries will also be present to participate in a special tourism exhibition for the 50th anniversary of ASEAN.

The expo, organised by the Tourism Administration of Guangdong Province, aims to boost tourism and present smart technology that is revolutionising how travel is booked and managed.

Now in its 12th year, the expo attracted 3,000 exhibitors, 22,000 professional buyers, and over 500,000 consumers in 2016.
