TCEB targets Indonesia


BANGKOK, 31 May 2016: Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau will pursue Indonesia’s exhibition delegates to boost trade show attendance in Thailand.

TCEB vice president, Supawan Teerarat, said Indonesia has high potential to boost attendance for Thailand’s trade exhibitions.

“We will work with the Thai Exhibition Association to assist Thai exhibition organisers to tap Indonesian industry associations to increase international exhibition delegates by another 15% the next year.”

inside no 5This year the country expects to welcome 191,000 international exhibition delegates generating a total of THB15.6 billion.

In 2015, exhibitions in Thailand attracted 174,652 international exhibition delegates that generated THB15.2 billion in revenue.

Indonesia is a leading producer of oil and gas, electrical appliances, palm oil, rubber, automotive and textiles.

The country is already an active participant in Thailand’s trade shows, contributing 5.61% of total overseas visitors in 2010 to 2015. According to a recent TCEB audit, they show interest in the food and agriculture sector (52.5%), health and wellness (16.72%) and automotive industries (15.53%).

The top Thai exhibitions for the Indonesian market, in terms of attendance, are currently VIV Asia, in-cosmetics Asia, Food Ingredients Asia and ProPak Asia, which account for 49.73% of Indonesia’s total visitors in 2015, the bureau said.

For overall MICE sector, 36,548 Indonesian MICE visitors visit Thailand last year increasing 9.67% from 33,325 visits in 2014.
