BANGKOK, 23 December 2015: A Tuk-Tuk costume won the day for Miss Universe Thailand 2015, Aniporn Chalermburanawong, who took home the Best National Costume Award at the Miss Universe Pageant in Las Vegas, Nevada, last week.
Aniporn or “Nat,” the 21-year-old contestant from Lampang, also advanced to the last 10 of the pageant’s finalists.
TAT partly sponsored the creation of the dress as part of its strategy to promote Thailand’s tourism. The dress’ creator, Hirankrit Pattaraboriboonkul, took the inspiration from one of the most iconic symbols of Bangkok streets and incorporated it with engineering precision, 3D imaging technology, and high fashion couture craftsmanship to create the winning national costume.
TAT governor Yuthasak Supasorn said: “The award-winning Tuk-Tuk national costume was a great promotion for tourism … underlining the charm of Thai hospitality for millions of viewers at the world’s biggest beauty pageant.”
